Factions: What are they?

Hello,

I'm new to this game and so far I've seen only two factions: TEC and Vasari. I've seen another mentioned as well.
Will these be the only factions? It seems each factions has its own tech trees and ship design.
Is faction creation/design for modders only?

The Advent are the third faction that won't be in beta and will be in final release. As for faction creation, I'm not quite sure but they say they will also release forge tools with the final release! :D

The TEC, Vasari, and Advent will be the only factions in the unmodded game yes. I suppose those with modding skills can and will add more (like in a Babylon 5 or Star Trek mod). I hope that answers your question.  :)

Yes it does, thanks ScourgeOfGod. What would really make this game have legs is to have a tool where users could create custom fleet skins. I know Brad had something like it for GC...

I think you're going to have to make your own models (3ds max, blender), skins (photoshop), and code(notepad) for a custom faction. :NOTSURE:
