1.8e Fleet Movement Error

I've noticed that when I group ships into a fleet and order them to move a distance beyond what they can move in one turn that it refuses to acknowledge the order. It doesn't crash the game, but it does make it annoying to move large groups of ships long distances as I must either send them as single ships, or I must babysit them every single turn. Anyone else getting this bug?

I also got this bug after updating to 1.8e, playing the Dread Lords campaign from Dark Avatar. It got VERY annoying...

I notice something, however, when I look at the fleet data. When the bug occurs and you order the ships to move, their MAX movement goes to 0, their remaining movement doesn't decrease, and they don't move.

If you then unfleet the ships, their max move will return to normal, but their remaining move will increase to double their max move!

Yes, I reported this earlier.

It only applies to fleets. See earlier in "Bug Reports."
You can right click with fleets but not past the moves for that
turn. Otherwise it does nothing.

I sent in a saved game late last night when I reported it.

Yeah, I didn't read the additional posts to your earlier reporting so I thought yours dealt only with the mini map. Oops.

getting same bug

also the first stage of a resource starbase is invisible to the player, but if you click on the resource, it shows the starbase (basic structure, w/o any modules). once a module is applied then it is visible. Applies to AI, not sure about humans.

Also ALTTAb now crashes every time. thats very annoying.

Hope they do a fix for that ASAP.

I haven't had any troubles Alt-Tabbing. Huge universe with only 1 gig memory.
This is with pretty much all the 1.8 versions. I've had fewer "slow-downs" too.

Yea I updated my DA today and Im getting this problem. Ended in me quitting without saving (emotional) .. I don't think I will start another gal til this is fixed

Yes, this is a huge problem. Stardock will save us though

I want to amend my original bug statement.

I have noticed that I can right click my fleets several spaces beyond their turn limit. I am unable to tell whether that "several" depends the range in the turn or not. It typically looks like two or three spaces. Obviously I cannot move the fleet a long distance with a right click.

Stardock will save us.

Still no fix. This has to be one of the most annoying bugs I have seen. Its game breaking for me, I don't even want to play. I take that back, I do want to play but refuse to move every fleet every turn.

I had a similar problem : Sometime, when I set a fleet path, the max move of the fleet went to 0 (but not the remaining moves), so that the moves looked like : 2/0. Then I could only move the fleet using the keyboard.
Also, I don't know if its related, a lot of my ships sent on long paths tried to go through planets. I found some scouts on auto-explore in the orbit of my planets and I had freighters try to "colonize" planets by trying to move through them.

Still no fix.

You DO realise that the bug was discovered Friday, and that even SD usually take the weekend off? Mind you, I'm not playing either because of that bug, but I guess it'll be fixed very quickly.

Small workaround:

Defleet a group select all ships and set a destination then once they are there refleet.

Dunno if it'd work well in wartime though.

Same prob, also having problems with ships of every kind trying to colonise planets when on a long'ish' journey.

The problem with this is if you have ships of different speeds, and if they get attacked along the way by a computer fleet who isn't encumbered by the same problem.

I am having several problems with this version. I'm having the problem not being able to move fleets long distances, the problem with ships running into planets while on the way long distances and one more. Sometimes the Turn button never comes back after a turn. Everything else works when this happens... I can build things, fight battles, etc. I simply cannot advance to the next turn. It gets old real quick, to have to save the game, exit and restart every turn. Like Jackastor, this all pretty much makes it unplayable for me. I do understand they need time to fix it, but in the meantime, is there any way to roll back to the previous version? (It's downloaded, so no CD.)

It was reported Thursday night (I reported it). But Stardock doesn't have
to fix every bug instantly. Hopefully we will get a fix this next week sometime.
But I know they are under pressure to keep pumping out TA betas.

I've noticed, the ship has a path set to travel, but changes the path every tile it moves.
It even doesn't follow the predefined path, bumping into planets, and ships I tried to avoid ...

I've noticed this bug too .. and it just makes one quit the game ... and go on to something else. Hopefully it will get fixed very soon.

If you keep disbanding the fleet, it will add to your moves left the number of your fleets max speed, followed by fleeting them again and sending them to a distance to far to travel in one turn. So, you could move one fleet across the map in one turn if you're patient enough.

Isn't there a way to revert to the last build. I looked at the download manager but couldn't seem to pull up the prior build.

This is getting ridiculous.

Your last post was on a Saturday, and today is a Sunday (where Stardock is located at least). Like any company they probably took the weekend off. Cut them some slack, they have families and lives that deserve their attention.
