Factory - Unit Stance Control

For difficult sieges on worlds with factories it would be a god send if I could set the default unit stance from there.

IE: All units built from this factory are set to : Hold Position/Local/G-Well

When a factory world is attacked the enemy often stays away from my guarded Factory, Sometimes I build ships anyways for a counter attack, but after they go to a rally point I must herd each one to Hold Position before it goes and suicidally attacks the enemy. If this could be a factory setting I could Build a fleet amongst my turrets and then repel invaders with much less frustration.

I do this regularly: When the first ship comes out, put him on hold. Rally all other ships to him. They should only attack ships within a small radius which is likely still covered by your defenses.

Hmmm thats quite helpful to know and will certainly reduce micro-

Will that work if I target the Rally to a structure? If so then I won't have any problem I guess.

Okay, so the 'stance' of the newly produced ships will be the same as the target 'rally' ship?

Or did Blair mean that auto-rallying any ships to any target will put them on 'hold stance'?

I read it as the former, a ship set in a specific stance will make every ship rallied to it the same stance. Didn't know that trick

no I dont think thats true, for multiple reasons. many being that I've reinforced capships with frigs and other cap ships and cruisers, the whole schpiel, but never do they all autoswitch to any stance

as I see it, sounds like the latter.

There is no stance change but the ship is considered in guard mode so it won't stray far from the rallied target.  They will tend to cluster about him in an ugly fashion but that will be improved shortly.

just please dont do what supcom does and make any "guard stances" extremely thinned out, it gets rather irritating.

Thanks for clarifying, Blair. But as far as guard mode goes, is there a way to set it for ships already built? Like if I was lazy and just wanted to control my capital and make all the LRMs zoom around after it?

Tell them to move to the capitalship (right click or d).
