ObjectDock crashes IE

I'm using ObjectDock as a nice toolbar on my work computer. I noticed right after install that my Internet Explorer would hang and eventually crash. ObjectDock is the problem, because IE works fine when I close it. FireFox or Opera is not an option, I must use IE as a browser for all our company related things (timesheets, expense reports, etc...)

I'd really like to continue using ObjectDock because it saves me so much desktop space.

Any ideas?

System Info:

WinXP SP2
2 GB Ram
IE 6.0
Latest update to ObjectDock

Thanks in advance!

Are you using the free or plus version of ObjectDock? What is the specific version number?

What kind of dock items are you using?

Ooops, forgot to mention that it was the free version of OD (1.90.033). I have used it in the past, and nothing like this happened.

I'm just using shortcuts as dock items. No special clocks, weather, task bar, etc.. I just use it for a nice compact shortcut bar to my obscene amount of programs I use.

Same problem here, I´ve been experiencing IE7 hangs and crashes every time I use it, and just today I realized OD is causing IE7 to crash in both my desktop and laptop computers... this is happening to me a long ago and I was initially blaming IE7 for those crashes but then today I tried stopping OD (which usually runs all the time) and then ran IE7 and as I write this, I´ve been using IE7 suffering no hangs/crashes at all. I´m too using the free version of OD with weather, clock, MS Office, and many other dock items. I have to say, I´m a Firefox user but from time to time I need IE7 to run compatibility tests on a web site I´m developing. I´ve being using OD for years and this IE7 thing is the only serious issue I´ve had with OD which I love and definitely want to keep. I have the latest MS WinXP updates installed so the OS is not likely to be blamed for this... any clues from the experts would be appreciated.

Do you have OD set to start at startup? If so, uncheck that option and start OD after Windows loads. See if that helps. I'm using IE7 a lot I do not have these issues with OD running.

OkrRamiG are you also on the free version? I have been trying to repilcate this issue for a week now with the Plus version but have been unable to do it. This weekend I will use my home pc to try out the free version on a "typical" computer.

Seabass6.7 yes I do use the free version (1.9); and x3lumin8x thanks for the suggestion, OD was set to run at startup (and still it is), but I delayed my answer since today I tried something new and just wanted to make sure it worked before posting again, and so far I´ve used IE7 happily together w/OD with no crashes for 5 continuous hours.

When I first posted my question, I forgot to mention that the version of IE7 I´ve been using is the one that Yahoo! provides which comes with their stuff included (Y! Toolbar, helper and a couple more add-ons). I read somewhere maybe Yahoo Answers that this Yahoo-provided version of IE7 has some issues and a couple people recommended uninstall it and reinstall the standard version from Microsoft; so, I went to MS and downloaded their IE7 package but before uninstalling, I first tried disabling all Yahoo-related add-ons in my current IE7 install (I had both Yahoo and Google toolbars and helpers on it but only got rid of the Yahoo stuff keeping Google add-ons in place), rebooted and (w/o stopping Object Dock) ran IE7. Since then, 5 crash-free hours have passed and keep counting (with no need to uninstall/reinstall IE7).

Pages I was having trouble with, like MSN Groups that made IE7 freeze every time I tried to send a reply (which pops up a javascript window) worked fine and I even sent several replies to my group for testing purposes just to be sure. Other pages I use to visit using Firefox have been working OK as well in my IE7 test (which includes using tabbed browsing intensively). So far I believe getting rid of the Yahoo! add-ons solved my problem, anyway I'll keep browsing with IE7 today and will report any freezes if they happened.

Thanks again for your help and suggestions!

Ok keep us up to date on the matter. Many Stardock applications have issues with Yahoo applications. If you get stuck send us an email at support@stardock.com and I will get the devs in on it.

I am running into the same issue as well. IE7 crashes while ObjectDock-Plus is running...

Current config:
Laptop/ObjectDock-Plus/Windows Vista/2gb RAM

If anyone has any info to resolve IE crashing, it would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any specifc Docklets running on your docks? Or just a normal install?

There has been some replication when the Yahoo toolbars are running for conflicts. Try disabling them and see if you still have issues (if you happen to have them running).
