Mod Request

If anybody has made the following, then please let me know:

Overpopulation really drops your approval and you can't do anything about it.
I suggest a new tech tree: City-Planning

First level gives you a tile improvement: Cityscape

The desc could describe it as building the population centers in a smarter way. This increases approval on a planet by 50%

Level 2: Adv City-Planning

New tile improvement: Planet Board

Upgrade to previous:
say..It continues to improve city-planning techniques and balances population and space by building cities in unusual locales such as underwater/ground(think the matrix). Approval up by 70%

Level 3: Superior City-Planning

New Tile Improvement: Bureau of Population Control

Final upgrade. Again improves on previous but also moves population into orbital cities. increases approval 90%

Again, If there is already such a mod...Please let me know.

No, this mod doesn't exist to my knowlege but if you want me to make it I can...

or you could just spare me some time and do it yourself! lol.

It sounds like a good idea for those people who have overpopulated planets, I rarely ever build farms unless I want that planet to be a major tax collection planet (like my economic capital), or if I plan to build troop transports there.

In fact, I rarely research the farming techs.

This increases approval on a planet by 50%

I wouldn't make the bonus that high, the happiness techs only give you 5% bonus and few of the trade goods bring it above 15% bonuses.

So either lower the numbers or make the techs extremely expensive.

An excellent idea.

Would be even cooler considering all the events it could cause. Satellite hits space city event. Solar rays mutate population of space city, could be a military bonus. Ground city collapses event. Ground population turns blue and beings eating above ground population, but increases production rates.

Would also like to see more issues with population such as crime and poverty. Where is the welfare center, police centers, prison facilities, Red light districts. The neat little ethical questions that would help determine your alignment. But again a like to see a pro/con for both good and evil thus far its been better to be evil cause good cost to much.

I'd love to make this...But I can't code. I also can't make images...

I never thought of those ideas Aggie, Way cool!

I could make the original idea... but I can't code in the stuff aggiejohn mentioned, I can't make images either but there are alot of images in the gfx file that weren't used, just sift through that and maybe we'll find something.

You can put more ethical events in, but you can't link them to buildings, so the stuff Aggie mentioned is possible.

some good ideals there boys and girls !!!
the magic number seem to be 21B you start going over that then you needs so many happiness builds it`s nuts

@ 21B i have a planet city i tweak some so that i would need only one to get to 21Billon People then with my Stonehenge improvement of 60 % I still need 3 of them

any thing over 21B 22 or 23 B you need about 7-10 improvements any thing over 23b you need about 15 to keep it at 100 % morale
so like it`s been said don`t build many farms improvements

Shadowwarrior, How would I open the gfx file?

gfx is a folder:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Gfx

In there, there are a lot of .png pics which you can open with any
picture viewer. Among them are used and unused event pictures.

I made a mod similar to this a while back ago. You can search up the Mod Library if you want. This was for GC2: Dread Lords of course.

Bah...control your population the old-fashioned way... Build massive transports, send them into space...and blow them up.

you can change all the events very easy but it takes along time to come up with ideas for them. You have to use the event xml file and than go into your GFX folder you know all those images those are the events that pop up every no and than.just use a image resizer to resize it exactly like it looks in the image and than in the event xml just add your own ideas. Its that simple none of it is hardcoded so change all you want.oh and this is for you AGGIEJOHN im almost done changing the events in the star wars mod you should be very happy.

Master U turns his attention to Fox."What events for the Star Wars mod?" Said Master U, the curious, about the Star Wars Mod which Aggie is leading now. He glares at Fox and waits for an answer...
