Question regarding Beta 3

Is there a registration key system with regards to Beta 3 (or Beta 4 for that matter)? That is, is it physically possible to install it on multiple computers?

Additionally, in the same vein, would I need two copies of the game in order to play the game over my local area network?

Thanks in advance.

its possible to install it on more than one compute with a single purchase. I successfully tested it with two (my desktop and my laptop).

basically as far as I can ascertain, you can install the game anywhere. all you need is an installation of stardock central, your account data and the activation key.

Sins can run on up to 2 PCs on a LAN with one key. More than that will require another license.

wait... you HAVE to have SDC for sins to work?

I can't just copy and paste sins over a network?

since I made a post before ... no idea on that one. my lan wouldnt properly connect for file transfer so I copied them via usb stick and it didnt work. with downloading it via sdc it did.

just two pcs? not that its really an issue, but, just out of curiosity, how is that controlled?

At a guess...

"Hey, we have the same randomly generated hash, so our CD keys must be the same -- one of the three of us has got to go!"

(Randomly generated hash supplied server-side by the SDC installer, in a processes invisible to the end user)

You have to install Sins through SDC for it to work properly, activate (easily - though it can be done manually) and get updates. Once it's installed you no longer need SDC, though you may still want it for the aforementioned updating and to uninstall.

Wow, you can use one key for two machines on any LAN. That is very generous...maybe too generous. I hope Ironclad doesn't lose too much $ over that.

Don't you mean more along the lines of "Ironclad is going to gain way too much cash over that!" -- after all, that kind of permissiveness is going to earn them a lot of customers as word gets around.
