As long as you have your serial I think you can just login to Stardock Central and download it again.

Hmmmmm I didnt buy Dread Lords off of SD Central. Oh and I forgot is Dark Avatar a Stand Alone expansion pack or do I have to have Dread Lords?

DA requires DL. If you got DL from retail you'll need to register the serial in order to download DA.

Well the serial under registrations works for the retail of DL and I bought DA off of SDC but my DL Discs are screwed up so I cant install DL but I can Download it off of SDC......... Do i have to download the Tutorial and Movie Files off of SDC?

you should be able to download DL off SDC regardless of how you purchased it, AFAIK. but i don't think you'll be able to avoid downloading the tutorial... maybe the movie files but i'm not sure. hope you have broadband!

well... maybe do it during off hours (late at night or early morning). also bear in mind the time zones through which the file transfer is being routed.

Stardock Central is pretty cool that way. It fetches the serials and handles activation. To do a clean install, all that's required is a login (and you probably have one since you are posting here). However, a decent connection is required to use SDC. The downloads are big.

AFAIK, you don't. You probably should DL the movies, though, else you might get an error if one of them is called from in-game.

Also, you don't need to DL the heightmaps, though you may want to on some night when you can leave the DL running.

What do the heightmaps do?

Edit: Got the Dread Lords Disk to work

What do the heightmaps do?

they're pre-defined maps of habitable planet surfaces. if they're not there, the game will generate them on the fly. having them can reduce load times when you set the game up.

also, there's a slider to lower the variety of them available. if you turn it down, many planets will look alike, but on the flip side loading times and memory use will be reduced.

You only have to download once if you use SDC's "archive" function and store the files somewhere. So, if you have a friend with a fast connection, you can get the files that way.

To download the files, right click on the entry in the list of packages then select "Archive Application -> Download and Archive". Copy the .sdc files downloaded to SDC's BACKUP directory.

To install, copy the files into SDC's BACKUP directory then use Ctrl-R or or right click and select Restore Archive.

None of the optional modules are required to play the game (that's why they're *optional*! ).
