problem after problem

I started up sins and got a windowed mode black screen. There was another window that said there was some error with the brush type or something and gave me the options to skip, skip all, or break. I followed the instructions on the FAQ, but to no avail, so I tried reinstalling.

Now I can't reinstall because stardock central won't launch for me. I get an error message: 'Failed to initialize XML data, please reinstall the application to correct this problem' which I have done numerous times.

I am stumped. Please help.

Did you completely uninstall the game before updating to Beta 3?  This includes going into c:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\ and deleting the Ironclad Games folder.

Install Beta 3 again after that and let me know if you still are having the issue.

Please keep in mind that you can archive the program in SDC if you need to reinstall multiple times. It will save some bandwidth for others needing to download Beta 3.

Also, the windows are probably complaining about the same thing I experienced and posted about in another thread... the .entity files being screwed up. Like Zoomba said, uninstall then reinstall B3.

If it continues, it should work if you launch from SDC instead of from the shortcut created by the game. At least, it has worked for me when I launch from SDC instead of the shortcut.

If there is something wrong with your download, I wouldn't recommend archiving it.

I can't launch SDC is the problem I'm facing at the moment.

I'm still getting the same error when I try to launch SDC: 'Failed to initialize XML data, please reinstall the application to correct this problem' Which I have done about 50 times already.

Alright I got SDC to work, I'm installing the game now and hopefully it will work this time, thanks for the help.

How did you fix it?

I deleted my SDC folder and re-installed it. Sounds simple enough, but I did do just that 3 times and it hadn't worked, must just be something I was doing wrong.

As for the game, all I did was reinstall and it worked perfectly.
