Latest Stardock Newsletter about Magic Suite/OD Elite Users

"Object Desktop Elite users are users who have active subscriptions to ObjectDesktop.net past January 1, 2009."

How that ? Did I miss something ? Is there a 2 Year subscription ? Or is it a typo ?

Hmm seems a bit off.
I would like to hope that a current subscription would be enough.

If I remember right it was even written in the first announcements that existing OD subscribers get elite status without further action neccessary.

So even though I have subscribed for years and have a current subscription which runs until March '08 I need a further subscription to qualify??
Jeez that's some reward for my loyalty!

Well, let's wait for an official statement before we get angry, okay ? I still hope it is only a typo.

Yep,you're right man   Don't worry,I was more bemused than angry.

man oh man, i would have to do 2 renewals to get this, and i've been a subscriber for god knows how long lol, doesn't seem fair to long time subscribers, just like the premium suites we were promised for our wincustomize subscriptions which seem to have been lost in the shuffle as well

What is an Elite membership? I have been looking all over and can't find any information on it. I have an objectdock subscription, but is that considered elite?

ObjectDock is not ObjectDesktop, you cannot subscribe to it, You just buy the software, where You get 1 year of all program updates and more with ObjectDesktop.

I'm hoping the same thing, I just renewed my subscription in July, early, like alot of other people, and now have an expiration date of December 2008.

When I read the email I came here so I could start put a post to find out what was up. Like I was going to get here bere before you folks!

Well, I guess it would be good if someone official responded to this thread, but I don't think this is a mistake, guys. I don't have it handy, but one of the emails or newsletters that I received stated something along the lines that if you re-upped your OD subscription, you would receive a free suite. I had renewed already in March and I went ahead and renewed again (for another year) in July, because there was a 20% off offer.

I saw that mail too Warren but at the time I had so much time left on my subscription I didn't bother renewing.I never heard of any bill or subscription that had to be paid two years in advance to qualify for features,it seems unfair to me.
Say for example I paid my water bill for the next six months tomorrow would I be expected to pay another six months next week so I can take a shower in the meantime?
Take care not to kill the cash cow Stardock.

Mooo!

I hope its a typo to. It would be knife stabbed in are back and then twisted to us who subscribe to object Desktop every year.

I will not renew my subscription until I have to.This is a pathetic way to get money. If the theme is available then,I will get it,if not,who cares.

I'm not particularly fussed about the suite either but it's the principle lgspence.
Why should some subscribers get things which other subscribers (equally as loyal)don't.
Subscribers are subscribers as far as I'm concerned,we all paid up front.
I thought the emphasis here was on 'community' yet this is a clear divide;the haves and the have nots, and yes as you say,it appears to be a cash grabbing exercise.
Which is a real shame.

In case anyone cares I tried to reply to this morning message, came back with an error. It apperars that it is computer generated.

Lets wait until we can get a direct response from Stardock before we start throwing the Tea into the Boston Bay!

Is there something going on here?

We've been seeing a whole lot more coupons and stuff lately and now we have this premium suite. Is Stardock looking for cash?

I just renew my ODNT subscription for one more year (after 10x times reminders from stardock that i've x days do do it ...   ).
I think i'm ODNT subscriber since it's birth and in fact a long time before with the "Component Manager" ancestor of it ...   ... and then a long time before with buying the first WB version ...

Am i not an Elite ODNT User ?

TheD2JBug has hit on something here. When I renewed my subscription early it was with a coupon. At this moment there is an email in my mailbox that I received on August 22.

It states "Stardock received such an amazing response on our survey from all of you last month that we like to offer you 25% off any of our products as an extra Thank You!

Stardock offers a range of products from the best in desktop customization to the ultimate in PC games. With a wide variety to choose from, we hope you enjoy our gift to you!

This offer expires September 15, 2007, so don't forget to take advantage of this awesome offer today!"

Either Stardock is very happy with it's subscriber base and wants to say thank you, OR, well lets not talk about OR just yet.

Why is it - every time we are offered a premium suite or a master suite the whiners come out? Grow up. If you want it, get it. If you don't, don't. How pissed were you when you bought a car and found out you had to put gas in it? Jesus.

When you buy a car you now upfront that you need to fill it with gas.

People have the right to whine.

No. They don't. They can purchase or not. They have a choice.
