v1.2 Three problems while playing WoW

When Playing WoW

Multiplicity 1.2 on both machines

Logitech G15 and Cordless optical Trackman

Windows XP MCE 32bit on Both machines

Primary connected by Ethernet STP 5ft
Secondary connected by WiFi 4 ft from router (doesn't disconnect from the game)

Both machines have, clean installs, latest drivers, firewall exceptions, and manual virus scanning.

--------------

Problem 1:
When switched to the secondary machine, when I use R+L mouse buttons to move,
it will sometimes lock up the mouse for 5-10 sec.

Result: running uncontrollably running into large packs of enemies

Problem 2:
Upon switching from primary to secondary OR secondary to primary while holding down any of the movement keys q/w/e/a/s/d instead of stopping the keystroke upon switch it continues to hold the keystroke until you switch back and press the keystroke in the direction that you are moving.

This might have to do with the way keystrokes are registered "W(down)" and when you release "W(up)" pressing down W and releasing on the secondary will not register the release of W on the primary.

I can see how some might use this to their advantage but I wish it could be toggled off.

Result: Spinning around in circles, running forward or backward into packs of enemies.

Problem 3:

When switched to the secondary machine control will be lost at random and reestablished on the primary machine.

Result: when coupled with problem 2 this is a big problem... holding down "W" and getting randomly disconnected prevents me from being able to stop. (problem 3 forces problem 2 to happen)

-------------------

I was going to ask about it in the WoW community forms but I figured I would ask here first.

If anyone has suggestions for things to try, please respond, I'm open.

Can you try opening up notepad on the secondary, hold down W and then switch.  Does the W stop?

Regarding your disconnect issues, does it ever disconnect when at the desktop, or does it just happen when in a game where cpu usage may be high?

Yes it stops in notepad and oddly enough it even stops in the in game chat window but as far as movement is concerned moving from one computer to the other while moving forces WoW to go into a type of autopilot and the ONLY way to cancel it is to press the direction i am heading so if it is stuck on "d" my character will spin right then I will have to switch back press "d" and it will stop! Its rather annoying lol.

WoW does not have to be open on both machines to make this happen.

I play various MMO's on my primary box and I find when I am holding down any key and mouse over to the secondary it holds the key down on the primary. To stop it I have to mouse back over to the primary machine and tap the key that is being held down. MP doesn't exhibit this behaviour in the opposite case though. If I hold down a key while controlling the secondary PC and then mouse over to the primary machine the key isn't held down on the secondary.

Interesting ... it does it on both primary and secondary on my machines. But yes tapping the stuck key unsticks it but sometimes that will force you into a pack of enemies and when it happens on both machines its horrible ... I ended up holding up 25 people by 30 min due to MP causing raid wipes.

I don't have a solution for you, but that's gotta suck! Have you dove off of a real high cliff and become tofu on the ground below because of it?

Not yet phoon, does this not happen for others that play WoW?

I don't use MP on my game system. I just have dual monitors and play in Windowed mode (using Fubar tool). I keep thottbot open on one screen whilst playing on another.

I would really like an answer to this ... the most annoying part is when press right and left mouse on the secondary and it disconnects (locking down right and left mouse on my secondary until it reconnects and press R+L mouse again)

Is left + right set to produce something special on your machine?

I have tried pressing left & right on my setup and it will not drop.

No unique mouse settings. In world of warcraft left + right mouse causes a character to move forward but if I am on the secondary it will cause a disconnect and keeps my character moving forward. When it finally does reconnect I have to click right and left mouse to cause it to stop moving forward.

I too have similar problems running WOW. The most annoying for me is when I press the middle mouse button - sometimes by itself and sometimes with the right mouse button it causes the cursor to move to the top left hand corner of the screen and turns my character about 90 degrees. This only happens on the second machine.

Sometimes as well, I will get a total disconnect when I have a program loading that takes a long time or even a webpage with a long load time while on the second machine and the only way to fix the problem is do a ctrl-alt-del to get the mouse back on the main screen cancel the Windows selection screen and then unload and relaunch Multiplicity.

My PCs are Primary: Windows Vista 32 bit
Secondary: Windows 2003 Server 32 bit

Although I haven't suffered the dosconnects that you do, I do have the same 'stuck key' problem. I dealt with that (and just got good at making sure I let go before swtiching screens) for quite a while. I love Multiplicity, but finally had to give it up for gamming when I re-arranged my monitors with two horizontal rows ... when gaming in FS mode multiplicity would prevent the cursor from going down off the screen - even thought it could go in the other 3 directions. I am now using multibox (check out dual-boxing.com). It supports mouse and key-broadcasting as well. It's a free tool, and I know people who have some bad stability issues, but it works for me and my Vista Master / XP slaves ... just start the client after you fire up wow. It also seems to run fine on top of Multiplicty.

I just wish they would fix the bugs people list in the forums and enable key/mouse broadcasting for gaming ... Multiplicy is a great tool, but support seems rather unresponsive in the forum articles I have read.

good luck.
