Total Anime!!!

Total Anime!!!

As the title suggest, this post is all about ANIME!!! If you have a thought that includes anime, you post it here. If want to express your views on anime, you post them here. If you don't know about anime and want to learn, you ask here. If you want to debate on how much anime sucks, you go DIE!!! I'm just joking... but not really... Anyway, some of my favorite anime shows are (in no paticular order) Naruto, Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach, Blood +, Trinity Blood, Ghost in the Shell, Mar. I know of a lot of other anime, but it doesn't appeal to me as much. From the titles I listed, you can guess that I mainly like actiony anime with clever comedy and romance thrown in. As for my preference between traditional Japanese speech to translated speech, I think the Japanese speech adds more to the authenticity of the anime, but the translated is good too because I don't have to constantly pay attention and read subtitles, if I could choose I'd go with the Japanese.

Actually, a lot of animation outsourcing gets sent to South Korea nowadays: take a look at the number of Parks and Songs with three-syllable names in the credits of shows like Powerpuff Girls or Avatar.

now that doesn't suprise me in the least.

anyway, i thought i'd throw this into the discussion: i'm working on building a complete miyazaki collection. i really like the films of his i've seen so far: Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, and i think i've seen bits and pieces of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. even though i really like his films, i notice that in every one i've seen so far, there's a fairly long sequence a little more than halfway through the movie that's peaceful and tranquil and puts me to sleep if i'm even close to it already.

anyone seen Grave of the Fireflies? that's gotta be one of the saddest movies i've ever seen.

I loved spirited away, my neighbor totoro and nausicaa of the valley of the wind were good too, never saw howl's moving castle or princess mononoke. I've heard of grave of the fireflies, but never see it, and I did hear it was sad.

princess mononoke was really, really good. it just didn't fare well in N. America because disney screwed studio gibli on marketing it.

how's moving castle is also pretty good; it's based on an english novel, and the feel of the story reflects that.
