Ad-Aware has always been one of my personal favorites, and finally a new version has been released.

Some of the new features taken from their site:

  • Redesigned Engine – Benefit from superior program flexibility and more accurate scanning methods with all-new program architecture.
  • Improved Code Sequence Identification (CSI) Technology – Boost your privacy protection with precise detection of embedded malware, including known and emerging threats.
  • Incremental Definition File Updates – Save precious time and resources with smaller update files resulting in faster download times.
  • TrackSweep - Control privacy by erasing tracks left behind while surfing the Web on Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera, with one easy click.
  • Multiple Browser Support – Choose Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Opera with expanded browser support.
  • New Straightforward User Interface – Effortlessly maneuver the complexities of malware detection and removal with our new user-friendly interface.

(CSI) Technology

Oh great....it pokes holes in human bodies in slow-mo and close detail with squishy sound effects....all in the guise of technobabble and B-Grade TV entertainment erstwhile known as 'schlock'.

[my crit on CSI in one sentence]...

Yes, it is constantly crashing for me.  I see there was a new update, but that solved nothing.

I've used Ad-Aware going on three years now, have kept it udated and have never experienced any problems. I'm not running Vista. That is not to say that there are not conflicts with other programs you may be running. Have you gone to their forums to see if others have identifed the same problem? Having been there the forums are pretty much like here, if a problem is identified other users of the software usally come to the rescue. Good Luck.

I am running on Vista.
My computer does not crash but Ad-Aware finds things but does not remove them. Instead it
crashes Ad-Aware itself. Update did not help

Looks like there is a workaround for running Ad-Aware 2007 in Vista...on the Lavasoft forums. HERE is the thread that explains how.
