Game Slowdown

I don't know if this is the right place for this post or not. But maybe some of you computer savvy people can help me out. I always play on a gig, abundant everything. the problem is when I get on in the game, every thing slows to a crawl. I mean, I can hit the end turn then go out and smoke a cigarette, get a cup of coffee, click through the channels on tv, then come back and my game might be ready for the next turn.I had 512 ram and I thought that might be the problem so I went out and installed another 512 for a total of a gig, but it's still slow. It really cuts into the enjoyment of the game when i'm waiting 5-10 minutes between turns. Any suggestions? thanks in advance cause everyone on here is very fast with replies.

Please go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever you installed the game at), open the debug.err file you find there in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. If this is a DA report, you'll find the debug in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar instead. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Note: If running on Vista with DA 1.6b2 or later, the debug.err is now located in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar.

Where abouts are you in the game when this slowdown happens? If you are quite a way into the game it will slow down anyway because the gameneeds to move every ship on the map and calculate what the AI has done in that turn, and since it moves every ship individually (I think) on a gigantic universe it will take time.

If it is at the start of the game and goes on for a minute or so then yeah file a report about it as then you have a problem.
