How long does the ai players usually last?

i'm currently thinking about getting into galciv2+DA. My question is how long does the ai players usually last? i'm not into these types of games for just a pure conquest type gameplay. Eventually does just one or two ai's survive?(With no human interaction). I like the more epic style of play and will play a game as long as i can trying to keep a peacekeeper role in the galaxy so my personal preference is to not have AI's that just take each other out quickly. I currently play space empires V and having the ai's last for basicly forever is pretty easy but the ai also sucks. My style of gameplay is not to conquer but to keep the peace and if that means going to war to weaken somoene i will, but i do not usually wipe them out, but if the ai will wipe each other constantly it ruins the game for me. how is galciv2 in this departmnet?

Depends on a number of things, from how big the universe is to the various events and similar. Sometimes you'll have AI's surrendering in the early game, other times you can play through the entire game and still not see an AI surrender.

You can always start a game with only the less aggressive races, tends to make for a more peaceful galaxy.

I've had all the AIs last 5 years into the game before(If I don't kill them). Other times the weaker ones will be picked off pretty quickly. Depends, if an AI gets stifled developing from a bad starting location or something they will usually be jumped on by the stronger ones(especially if alignments are opposite). Just never know, but the player can have a hand in maintaining galactic balance if that's your desire.
