UI: Ugly problem

Not a crash but...

Ok, I've got an issue. I've downloaded the latest drivers, directx, and patch for Gal Civ, unfortunately I am still having an issue with the graphical interface. Namely anything adn everything that should be smooth/rounded off is a blocky solid color. Example, the next/turn button is, instead of being a bullet grey slightly oblong type shape is a bullet gray oblongish shape on top of a perfectly rectangular ugly blue square, similar problems abound throughout. Taking another stab at describing it, I'd say that the overlay/transparency dealy bob is whanged up.../cough.

Anyways. Tech specs can handle this, I'm running a laptop, plenty of ram/processing so I"ll skip to graphics. SiSM650, with the latest 2007 driver and DX 9.0c. Silly game runs fine on my desktop but I want a copy working, and not ugly on the laptop. Since it doesn't prompt a crash I've got no error file for this issue, it just is gadsawful to lookupon/play.

Dreadlords, v1.4x

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you might provide.

The m650 is a DX7 chipset, so it isn't officially supported by the game, and issues like this are likely even with the last available drivers. Since you already have them, you could try experimenting with 3d-Analyze, which is used for other issues with DX7 cards. Unfortunately I don't have such a chipset myself, so I really can't do much more than point out the tool to you in case it does any good.
