Flyout menus Slowwww to open

Why do my fly out menus come out so slowwww? I also tried to uninstall and nothing happens. I didn't think about going to the folder and doing it there.

I had a slight problem with objectdock 1.9 disappearing when I ran a desktop x gadget. I think a re boot might of taken care of it.

I really like this program.

Thanks
Dave

DAve, how many items in the Flyout folder?

Are you trying to unintall OD or a flyout?

What gadget or all gadgets?

Hi Dave,

Hrm. Which part is slow? The animation / fanning out? Or is there just a long delay before you see anything at all? Also, if the animation, is it slow too when scrolling through the items left/right, or is it just the flyout animation itself?

Thanks,

Well the fanning portion is what is so slow in the weather docklet.

Ah, the fanning is slow even in the weather docklet? Which OS are you using, XP or Vista? And what kind of video card? You may want to head out and try the latest drivers if you haven't updated in a while

I'm using XP Pro and its the latest ATI drivers installed. In fact its the same video card and driver on my laptop thats slow. hmmm

Arggg, Stardock replied and I accidentally deleted it. I did what they wanted which was delete the profile under Documents and setting but to no avail. I actually was looking for a (sick) excuse to format and re-install. Flyouts still slow. They don't pop. It taes about 4 secs for it to open.

I have the same issue, whenever i put more than 3 items in one of my fly out menu's the alpha blending animation when it fans out/in causes it to load very slowly, that and scrolling left or right also takes a lot longer than when i have only three icons.

I am running:
- VISTA ultimate
- Pentium 4 2.8Ghz Dual core
- ATI radeon x700 with 256 MB ram
- and 1024Mb system ram

I also have the system tray problem, but not complaining.

UPDATE: I installed object dock on my laptop, no lag whatsoever.
Windows XP home
1.9 Ghz AMD CPU
ATI xpress 200M with 32Mb video ram
224 Mb system ram

wtf? is this a vista-related issue?

Seriously slow here as well on XP Pro SP2 with Radeon 9600xt 256mb, 1GB RAM, AMD AthlonXP 2400+.

Not sure if it was a video card thing or what, but I figured it out. Something ridiculous too... when they flyout was going out I would, in effort to keep the flyout icons on top, tell windows to keep them on top. Turns out when that piece of code, new to v1.9, was enabled... well, slowness ensued. Unfortunatly this did fix a problem where in instances flyouts could show up underneath some other things like a taskbar, etc, so I'm not sure if that will ever crop up again, but in my testing I didn't see it.

Long story short, Status: FIXED!

ok this is what you do, bear in mind this is editing the registry so follow these directions very carefully. go to start, run and type REGEDIT and hit ok.when the registry opens up click HKEY_CURRENT_USER then click CONTROL PANEL you will see a folder called "desktop" click on the desktop folder you will see a huge lists of commands on your right side of the registry, find where it says "menushowdelay" the default is 400 you may put this to a lower number such as 25 do not go any where below 1 other wise your system will lock up when you do something like right click and you get the menu that shows up.put it at a number such as 100 after doing this close the registry and reboot your system.your context menu's should now show up alot faster.if you want it back to normal or you run into any problems then set the number to it's default which is 400.

Would you mind telling us how you fixed it?
He changed code.  Update through Stardock Central to have all be well.

I don't think this is necessary or applicable to ObjectDock weather flyouts

I'm sorry, none of that made much sense. Are you telling me the problem was fixed through an update on central? or just by changing the 'always on top' setting? or by actually editing the source code for object dock, or by changing windows menu delay settings?

He updated the program and now a new beta is available on SDC.

The fanning out is still pretty jittery for me...and flyout on hover for the weather docklet won't even work (even though it's checked). I have to click on it for it to flyout.

Download tweakui powertoy from microsoft once installed click on MOUSE ,there is a slider for adjusting the menu speed without stuffing around in the registry, plus a few other usefull tweaks that may come in handy, the menu speed adjustment will affect all menu's i've set it on 1.5 bar any less and i'll have trouble being quick enough to right clik lmao

I have TweakUI, though I don't see how if will affect flyout menus in OD.

it shouldn't, unless OD works as a mouse menu type or something weird. but that doesn't seem like Stardocks programming style. I could be wrong though...
