Some issues with OD1.9

I found two problems regarding the new start menu docklet:

Sometimes I get the error "ObjectDock was unable to find the start menu to show". Only if I restart OD the start menu docklet works again.

If the start menu comes up, it does appear at the normal position, not near the "start button". If you open the start menu by clicking the start menu docklet, a further click on the desktop yields "StartMenu helper file was injected but failed to take effect"...

These might be side effect of a restricted user account, since when I work as administrator these problems do not arise.

Another problem after upgrading from 1.3 to 1.9: When working with a restricted user account, the systray icons do not appear - seems to be a bug since in OD1.3 it worked (1.5 had similar problems as 1.9) - could you please fix this?

Best regards,
Volker Zota

P.S.: A last small problem: Despite the fact that accuweather knows Hannover, Germany as weather location, the docklet doesn't.

Hi,

Have you tried doing a uninstall and and reinstall to the 1.9? On a restricted account I can't seem to replicate the first listed problem.

Let me know if this works for you.

the bug i found in OD 1.9 is, when having the weather icon vista's DEP (data execution prevention) will close out OD 1.9 but if you remove the weather icon vista's DEP won't close it..as far as the start button not working for you, just totally uninstall OD and reboot, after you reboot delete the OD folder and then reinstall OD 1.9..hopefully that work's for ya..also make sure you have admin privilege's other wise it won't install

I uninstalled OD1.3 before uninstalling OD1.9 already in the first place. I repeated the procedure with no positiv effect - still problems with the start menu launcher and the systray icons.

@whatever: Thanks for the hint. But also removing the OD folder before installing OD1.9 in program files did not help.

I am having the same problem with the start menu on two computers. Both with clean installs of 1.9. When I click on the start menu docklet in OD, i get the "StartMenu helper file was injected but failed to take effect..."

As above, same problem here. UAC is off, Vista 32bit Home Premium, OD 1.9 Plus, upgrade from 1.5 Plus beta (I don't recall the build). It seems like the menu is displayed most of the time, but clicking on a menu item brings up the error dialog every time.

Just installed OD 1.9 for the first time on XP and I have both of these problems. Wish I read this before I purchased it.

So I was trying to replicate this issue but it doesn’t quite work the same though I have identified a problem here. Please email us at support@stardock.com for further help. Please also reference this post.

Just so you are aware we are a mon-fri support staff. However you will randomly find us here on the forums and support emails through the weekend. We never try to leave anyone high and dry but weekend work depends on free time and we are programmers and skinners too.... so that's a hard one. Have faith, we'll be there!! *flies off heroically*
