Problem with IconX

Hey there,
I'm getting some problems when I load IconX.
It affects my desktop right click menu (see illustration) and prevents one of my object docks from opening correctly(see illustration).
I also have RightClick loaded ,which is working perfectly, but I also use the ctrl/right click on my desktop to view normal right click menu...it is this that is going wonky when I load IconX.
Here is the illustration I refer to: WWW Link
I have tried all the usual stuff like uninstalling/reinstalling/etc and had not experienced any of these problems until I installed IconX and as soon as it is uninstalled the problems cease.Which is a shame because it rocks.
Any ideas?as I just bought this and it's a bit frustrating.

any problems with it installed, but unloaded?

No,no problems in that instance, but it has thrown up some other problems (when loaded)....

1/ When I hover my cursor over the 'new' line on right click this happens: WWW Link
2/When I have DesktopX set to run at startup (and if IconX is loaded) this happens : WWW Link
I am unable to select run at startup in IconX if DesktopX is loaded and vice versa as you can see from my pics.

So basically I can use one but not the other.Fact is though,I want to use, being as they are, part of a suite(ObjectDesktop) which is all supposed to work together.I've spent a week already trying to get these things to work together and the frustration is starting to kick in.
Getting no response at all from my e-mail to support@stardock hasn't exactly helped either.

Another problem..... I have loaded an e-mail checker widget as part of my desktopx theme (it is saved as part of a theme I am making),which only checks my mail if I have DX builder loaded. It does not check my mail if I have desktopX client loaded!
So which am I supposed to have loaded at system startup? DX client or DX builder??
Surely simple instructions which could be included with this product would help, but everything I read seems to be geared towards people with prior technical knowledge(Skinstudio is just ridiculous in this respect).I am just a normal retail customer who was expecting a simple configure it,load it and leave it scenario but am finding the opposite to be the case.

So to sum things up:
IconX doesn't work with DesktopX client or builder loaded.
Mail checker only works with DX builder (not client) loaded.
IconX can't be set to load at startup when I have either DX client or builder loaded.
My standard right click menu is destroyed when I load IconX.
Oh and if I load RightClick when Object bar is running it does not work either.

I wish I had stuck to the few products I owned (WB,IP,ODock,CursorXP,RightClick) as I had no problems with these until I loaded IconX,DesktopX and Object Bar.

All in all I have gained no extra benifits from purchasing the ObjectDesktop suite, infact it seams to have messed up my previously installed products, and I have wasted hours trying to get them to work with each other.

AND STILL NO ANSWER FROM EMAIL @ SUPPORT !

Can't see the pics due to employer (damn the electric fence, damn the electric fence) but I got an idea of what you mean. I also can't get to WC from here (unauthorized apps {but I can get to the app's main site - go figure}) so... do a forum search for FireDogs they had a couple of posts (one real long) on that issue and then had a thank you post mentioning the solution... I can't re;member what it was but for some reason I think it was something simple like clearing the iconx and or dtx cache. Corky O has an Object Dock tutorial (again at WC) for clearing the cache, which also works for the other StarDock apps.

I don't normally have desktop Icons (I'm organizationally lazy and my screen resolution won't go high enough to view them all) and haven't used right click that much (not a power user but i play with it once in a while) - I got my desktop Icons cut down enough to not cause my desktop to implode when I show them, but haven't had time to be on my home computer in a couple of days - if I get a chance tonight, I'll run mine and see if what I get matches what you got.

Getting no response at all from my e-mail to support@stardock hasn't exactly helped either.

I hear you, but bear in mind they're probably working real hard on the Vista compatibility issues & it does say 48 business hours (8 hrs x 6 days I'm guess is what it means) - even though anytime I have sent an email to support I get an answer in a couple of days.

Did you at least get the auto reply? If not, really check your spam.
The auto reply also contains instructions on what to do if you don't get a reply (else if you just send another email you could move back to the end of the line).

All this reminds me:

which OS?
which version of IconX, DTX, rightclick?

I don't have many desktop icons either, but I figured that as I have IconX I could make the ones I do have look cool.
Here are the missing pics:

I'll have to work out the saving in client vs builder

Also ,the mail widgets settings (pop server etc) have to be re entered each time I start windows. So basically it works with DX builder and not DX client.Surely I shouldn't have to enter this info each time I want it to check my mail.
Oh my OS.

Windows XP SP2
Vid card Nvidia: 6200 256mb
Ram : 2gig
Processor P4 2.6gig

you're pics aren't missing - my employer blocks them - doesn't matter how you post it.

a link just comes up with a 'blocked' page
a pic posted via the 'insert image' just doesn't show (sometimes shows as a red x)

yep. IconX loaded - little icons disappear (with or without RightClick loaded)

Try importing a widget instead of loading one, then save the theme

crap! IconX run at start disappears again when DTX is loaded.

My experimental solution when dealing with IconX problems of late(there have been a few with strange noises and references to dwwin.exe)is to load DTX through smartsetup and insert a shortcut to IconX in the startup folder. I have no experience of Rightclick, but I must admit the partial separation of DTX and IconX with the disappearance of the tick box when both are loaded is awkward for some of us.

IcnonX used to be part of DTX, but then became a separate program

in the beginning there was the 'no run at start' issue - but i had it fixed for a while.
now it seems the issue is back.

looking for the other old thread....

I've always had this problem with DX / IconX, which is why I never run DX.

When DX is loaded it takes over. Frustrating at best

The solution for FDs R&sJ seemed to be uninstalling IconX, then clearing the cache, then reinstalling.. can't remember if that's what I did also - can't try now since spouse is working on some classes online

Even with DX unloaded IconX still causes problems with the standard xp desktop rightclick menu (with or without RC loaded). It's frustrating as I recently bought ObjectDesktop in the hope of beeing able to use all of the software in conjunction with each other, but as it happens it seems that several items are not compatible with each other.
Maybe this will be fixed in future updates but in the mean time I think SD should stop selling it as a suite as this gives the impression that it can all be used together.
It is like buying a car and finding it can't be driven unless the windscreen wipers are removed,it just wouldn't happen.

So will it be fixed?
Will I ever be able to use IconX without it destroying my right click (desktop) menu?
Will I ever be able to use IconX at the same time as my DesktopX stuff?

....silence...brushwood drifts past on a gentle breeze.

Guess what mess it is, when You don't have an english system Right, You have an english context menu on the desktop with IX or DX loaded. That is one of the reasons why I am stucked with RightClick. Reported that one for years, gave up at some point.
