Some of these Russian sites just have no shame   

I blame Communism (someone actually mentioned this on IRC). And then it hit me: a lot (an overwhelming majority) of the pirate sites I've seen are either Russian, Chinese, or Vietnamese. Go figure.

I think it's not communism capitalism or russian chinese or what you want it's simple assholes

it's the lack of appropriate laws in those countries regarding copyright, (ie there are no laws). blame the governments, the people just take advantage of a good situation

Pretty much, I just remembered someone had made that communism comment on IRC and then my brain made that link. "It's simply assholes" can't get any truer than that.

Nimbin If you made a work copyrighted @ states for example this copyright is available in all countries. If you made a work in a country where there are no copyright law i agree with you. But here works are copyrighted.
maybe i'm wrong but if i remembered good my lesson of law (just one year) i'm right

Just for the record, Russia is no longer a communist society and China is heading the same way. What is happening in those countries equates to "how the West was won" in USA.

It is all a matter of time before the copyright laws and regulations will start setting in. Meanwhile, both governments are much more concerned with establishment of the workable capitalist systems and infrastructure considering both cultural and historic backgrounds.

At this time, we just have to try and get around these issues. I believe that Brad has been trying to do just that.

You are correct Quentin as is Stephan...and so we need to be the * reporters of sites like this sooo maybe bit by bit we can stem the flow. Unfortunately we will never stop them all.

IMHO I do not believe that any of us should be posting these links in a public forum. Report about them here..YES...but send the link by e-mail to a moderator and indicate that in the post ...
