@Drengin,

Thanks for proving my point. The way people ask is what I take exception too. Like you response. Good intentions but you come across like a bull moose in a China store.

I've been in the modding game a long time so I don't need you to lecture me about what I can and can't expect.

@Kryo please deleted this thread. thanks

Han, I really don't understand what you are getting so bent out of shape for.
The request for instruction was first made very politely by Drengin:
"Han891 i also did not see any install instructions in the rar file?"

It was followed up by Renfl saying:
"Yes Han, where are those instructions?"

While it may have been a private joke between you and Renfl, it isn't to those that would like to actually use them but have no idea as to what to do.
Your only response was to say:
"Take a look at the post again. It explains what you need to do."

But, it does not explain what to do.

Renfl's response of:
"I know not everyone knows how to mod so yeah and whatever - but thank you for trying at least to be nice and give people ships.

Lets not forget manners people. He provided everyone with something. If it wasn't good enough, you didn't have to use it, or could politely ask how to install correctly.:

shows a curiously uncaring attitude, I must say.
First, it was first asked in a polite way - but it was ignored.
Second - 'not everyone knows how to mod so yeah and whatever' - followed by - 'He provided everyone with something' - contradicts itself.
Everyone was provided with the model files, but since not everyone knows what to do to actually use them restricts their usage to only a select group.

Han, you did us all a great favor and service by putting so much effort into these models. I really appreciate it. But why make it such a struggle for the average player to enjoy them? Why make it so that your work is not so much for the community as it is for the elite?

???

Those are not instructions on how to use the ships, it only says where to copy the files.
Complete instructions would have to include how to mod the correct files so that the models can be used as hulls.

There really should have been included an 'AsgardHulls.xml' file to be put in the ..Data\ShipComponents folder.

That was a miscommunication on both parts. He meant the post on our forum that the link goes to, underneath all the cool pics it explains EXACTLY what to do. It doesn't on this one. Can easily see how that was missed though.

My comment was uncaring if by that you mean, don't care who can use the files and who can't, I didn't invest anything into the ships, it was all Han891, I've been busy working on the ST Mod, and more than likely was multitasking working on that and reading this thread when I posted that, so I didn't bother to make sure it came out nicely. Sorry, I should do that more often. Back in the day Han891 released the ST Ships with full instructions and files, and still got flack, so he probably just didn't bother because he felt either way he'd get someone giving him a hard time about it. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me type of thing....

Anyways, sorry if my message came through as uncaring.

Ah, I see.

I never went back to the download site after I downloaded the models, and I did not see the instructions at that time. But the last edit on that post was April 1, and I probably downloaded the day before when they were made available.

Just too much miscommunication and misunderstanding, I guess, between all of us.

Thanks for the explaination, Renfl.

And Han891, again, thank-you for your efforts put into making these ships. I really hope you don't get too discouraged. I don't think any of us wanted or meant to sound so ungrateful.

Hey, sorry to ask, but do you need DA to use these models or can you use them with just DL? I haven't gotten round to getting DA yet so i'm still using DA.
I am also still on DL.
They'll work.

As far as I can tell, there is no ShipComponents folder in Data, for either DL or DA. Should it go in a different folder or should I create one?
The ShipComponents folder is in the folder structure of the Mods folders, not the main game.
I use Kryo's Hull System Mod and add any other mods into that, so mine go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Mods\KHSM\Data\ShipComponents

That link no longer works but there is another mod out, and several on their way from various people.
