They look very nice. However saving them as a rar file may well cut down peoples ability to use the file as most will only have the ability to use zip files.

For those of you who don't have a program to unzip rar files i would suggest the free program 7Zip which will do ZIP, CAB, RAR, GZIP and TAR as well as its own 7zip format.

Han891 i also did not see any install instructions in the rar file? Where do people put the files once extracted?

Those are awesome. Though I don't think the first ship there is an O'Neill but rather the weaker variant seen in the first battle against the Ori. It's smaller and doesn't have the O'Neill's hammerhead bow.

Yes, I am nitpicking. Still great work though.

Yes Han, where are those instructions?

The first ship according to the two guys that created the model is the Oneil. There is a weaker variant which is the Valhalla class.

Yes there will be more packs to come!!!

Though you may laugh there are plenty of players who will not know where to put the download! Install instructions in any mod are really a must.

Dregin, its an inside joke between Han891 and myself, we both work on the StarTrek Mod and chat quite frequently, wasn't meant to be insulting in anyway, just to make Han chuckle and maybe to call me a bad name or two under his breath

Say what happened after that first Ori battle? Everyone got creamed by the three Ori ships... Since Sam was playing with the stargate at the time i asumed it was a look at the future so then they would have changed things,,, is that right?

Those are not instructions on how to use the ships, it only says where to copy the files.
Complete instructions would have to include how to mod the correct files so that the models can be used as hulls.

There really should have been included an 'AsgardHulls.xml' file to be put in the ..Data\ShipComponents folder.

Han - I know not everyone knows how to mod so yeah and whatever - but thank you for trying at least to be nice and give people ships.

Lets not forget manners people. He provided everyone with something. If it wasn't good enough, you didn't have to use it, or could politely ask how to install correctly.

A PLEASE AND THANK YOU GOES A LONG WAY.

Here is a sample AsgardHulls.xml:

[?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?]
[GC2]

[DataChecksum NoParse="1"]
[Ignore]DisplayName,Description,Model,Thumbnail,Animation[/Ignore]
[/DataChecksum]

[Hull Name="Brefit"]
[DisplayName]Brefit[/DisplayName]
[Description]Asgard Brefit Class[/Description]
[Cost]160[/Cost]
[Size]80[/Size]
[SensorRange]15[/SensorRange]
[HP]80[/HP]
[Model]BREFIT[/Model]
[Thumbnail]BREFIT[/Thumbnail]
[Tech_Requirement]Massive Scale Building[/Tech_Requirement]
[Speed]2[/Speed]
[Category]Huge[/Category]
[Logistics]8[/Logistics]
[/Hull]
[Hull Name="ONeil"]
[DisplayName]ONeil[/DisplayName]
[Description]Asgard ONeil Class[/Description]
[Cost]160[/Cost]
[Size]80[/Size]
[SensorRange]15[/SensorRange]
[HP]80[/HP]
[Model]ONeil[/Model]
[Thumbnail]ONeil[/Thumbnail]
[Tech_Requirement]Massive Scale Building[/Tech_Requirement]
[Speed]2[/Speed]
[Category]Huge[/Category]
[Logistics]8[/Logistics]
[/Hull]
[Hull Name="Daniel Jackson"]
[DisplayName]Daniel Jackson[/DisplayName]
[Description]Asgard Daniel Jackson Class[/Description]
[Cost]110[/Cost]
[Size]55[/Size]
[SensorRange]15[/SensorRange]
[HP]60[/HP]
[Model]DJ[/Model]
[Thumbnail]DJ[/Thumbnail]
[Tech_Requirement]Large Scale Building[/Tech_Requirement]
[Speed]2[/Speed]
[Category]Large[/Category]
[Logistics]6[/Logistics]
[/Hull]
[/GC2]

Copy and paste into Notepad and use the Replace function to change the brackets back to what they should be ( [ to < and ] to > ), then save the file as AsgardHulls.xml.
Place it in the \Data\ShipComponents folder.

I use the KHSM mod, so I put it in that mods \Data\ShipComponents folder, as well as copying the model files into the Mods\GFX\Models folder instead of the main games gfx folder.

And, thank-you, Han, for making the models available. They look great.
I really did not mean to sound ungrateful, but complete instructions, for the use of models which have had so much time invested, sure would go a long way to getting them used (and enjoyed) by a larger number of people.

Whilst great could someone please mod this so they can be used as basic remplates for colony ships etc and appear from the begining. Many thanks in anticipation
Reply #18 Top
Moose or whomever does the new files, if you email the mod(s) to me at drengin@btinternet.com i will upload them to the Galacticcore server and post the d/l link(s) here.
If you want them from the beginning simply remove the Tech Requirement line.
And if the Category is changed to Cargo it will show up in the Cargo Hulls tab instead of the Large or Huge tab.

The mod is actually Han891's, so he should be the one to send it to you to put on another site. But he is free to use and include my example xml file with it if he wishes.
Hmmn tried the above and nothing

Gues i will wait and see if someone emails the xml and configs for them (in Cargo setting please )

Thanks anyhow for trying

Drengin, check your e-mail.

Thanks again Moose

My pleasure.

Did it work like you wanted?

I don't know if you've noticed, but those particular hulls have some pretty hefty scanners and hit points.

Add a missle or two and you won't have to worry as much about them getting attacked.

First and fore most thanks for the feedback. Please keep in mind that if a modder doesn't included install instructions that's his or her prerogative. You can debate that fact as much as you like but it still doesn’t change it.

In all honesty I was really put off by this post. I spent a good chuck of time and resources working on the models and thought I would be nice and share them. In fact I have other packs completed but I really don’t think I’ll release them now. My time in the public modding community is coming to end.

Good luck to each and every one of you. Best wishes.

Han891

Great models - lousy attitude

Not all feedback is always going to be good and one cannot expect everyone to like the work you have done!

Please keep in mind that if a modder doesn't included install instructions that's his or her prerogative

True, but don't be surprised if someone then posts a question on how to use the mod. Not everyone is aware of what you need to do to get the models into the game. Heck i have been around these forums longer than most and was in charge of the library on the GC1 site but even i needed advise on this!

Point here i am making is running off with your arse in your hand when someone questions how to install/use your work is ludicrous.

Love the work you have done and hope to see more but i guess its down to you and your prerogative...
