DA Bugs Ship Movement and not showing components during upgrade

I am updated to the latest DA, DL through Stardock. When in shipbuilding, if I look at existing ships, I see no functional components -- like 0/60.

If I build a new ship, save it, and then look at upgrade, there are no component parts. The hull is there but empty.

Also, I have noticed that sometimes when I am moving a ship just one space (with more movement to go), I jump back to a ship already moved. This keeps happening unless I restart the game.

BTW I know about the top right icons where you can show functional and non-functional components.

Toggle "remove functional components on upgrade" in the options screen.

Is there a reason for this option (other than causing me to wonder for an hour what was going on)? With this option, there is barely any difference between "upgrade" and the "new" options (other than leaving the hull)?

It allows you to keep all the 'jewelry' pieces you've added so you can use previously-made designs for completely different ships (or even similar ships with updated parts in most categories) without having to manually remove all the parts. This is less needed though under DA, since there is now a template option. And of course if you just toss parts on a bare hull it doesn't really help you, but many people put a lot of time into elaborately-designed ships.

Ok. But the default should have been different.

That should be an option that's right inside the designer, same as saving ships to disk. At the very least it should be turned off by default. It took me a long time to figure out what was going on. All I wanted to do was look at the default ships and see how they were put together, but I wasn't able to. For a newbie that's rather important, it gives them a reference as to how to go about designing their own ships.
