Can the Combat Viewer be modded?

I was thinking to myself about possible mods for GCII and I came up with a couple of neat ideas. I don't know if it's possible though, because it would probably require modding the combat viewer.

Anyway, one of my ideas would be to have a cockpit camera mode, so you could see from a pilot's point of view. My other idea was to have combat chatter. Where at different points in the battle, you hear voices from the ships. (Like the units in Homeworld). The things they say would vary depending on how the battle is going and it could be in each pilot's native language.

I don't suppose any of this would actually add to the game but I think it would be pretty cool anyway. Is it doable?

I don't believe so. You can change the ship models, formations, weapon FX, and interface, but that's largely the extent of it AFAIK.

you could mod the sound files for weapons fire and defense activity, to include little speech bits, but it'd be the same sound clip every time the weapon fired. that'd annoy me, personally.

i don't think camera angles are mod-able, but the cockpit idea isn't bad. i believe they added a couple new camera angles for DA; you could suggest it to the devs for a later patch.
