HELLLLLLP!!--Unable to download Enhanced Copy of IconPackager

Download Problem-- Can they send it to me on disc instead?

Dear Customer Support,

I just purchased Icon Packager and Cursor XP Friday night but am unable to successfully download the Enhanced version of Icon Packager from the Stardock E-mail link that contains the serial number.

Probably the reason is because it is a very large file and I am on dial-up.      Is there another server I can download Iconpackager at-- or better yet, can you guys send me a disc with Icon Packager on it via the mail?

I am going to keep trying and will update this post if the download does work.

As I type this, I am happily downloading Cursor XPPlus--    but I really am dissapointed that I can't download the program I really wanted in the first place-- Icon packager.. WAAAAAA!!!

What you could use for interupted dial-up downloads is a download manager that has a resume download feature. This one has a trial and may be what will help you get your large file - http://www.getright.com/

You should download Stardock Central and trying downloading from there.  It's a download manger for Stardock products.

Even though you are on dial-up a 14mb file still shouldn't be too bad to download.

Thanks guys-- actually it is 23 MB--according to my Firefox browser, so I'm wondering if my dial-up just can't take anything larger than 15 MB in one gulp.

I'll try the Stardock Central and see what happens.

Thanx!

(Here is the message that pops up after the failed download: "iconpackager 311_enhanced exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.")

I'm on dialup (fastest connection speed so far... 26.4 Kbps)

I use SDC (see reply #2) for updating the programs (including IconPackager) - takes a while, but it works

downloading skins and such - WB, CXP, other smaller loads - I use the FFox normal download -- larger items (Iconpackages, larger DTX themes, etc) I use Leechget (free) with the FF plugin - the Leechget free personal edition allows up to 8 downloads to queue in

Thanks Bichur! I really appreciate your feedback on this

my fastest connection speed is 44 kbps. I feel for ya with only 26.4!

You may want to get the free "FreeRam XP Pro" -- It frees up alot of RAM for me, it's totally free (though they accept donations) and a great tool for us dial-uppers!

I took a break to do my laundery, and download stuff from NightTrain's Gallery. Now I'm back and will be attempting the Icon Packager download through SDC first- after I update it of course. I was wrong about the filesize-- Firefox showed it as 23 MB, but Island Dog was right- it is 14MB I think.

I downloaded GetRight after reading your first post but didn't install it yet. Leechgate sounds like something I want too, --thanks for the heads up on that, too!

Seems that Stardock Central worked -- the new IP version is on my system now!!

Now it will be fun going back to the gallery archives to download/install all those 3.0 Icon packages I couldnt use on the older version of IP.

tanx for the link, Bichur- cuz i'm downloading that too.

have a nice weekend!
