Possible DA bug: size of engine from 9 jumps to 21 when selected to install.

Kyro,
When I go to the shipyard, on first turn, of my Home world, I try to build a colonyship.
1. Select home world shipyard
2. select new build
3. select engine: hyper drive to see cost and size: Size: 9 cost 30
4. select a cargo hull
5. select engine, this is the bug: Size 21 cost 30.

The size jumper up by 12 to install!!!!!!!!!

Should this happen?
This a bug?

I have yet investigated other components to see if this happens? If it does I will be back with my report.

hmm, did you have the hull size selected before selecting the engine and then selecting the cargo hull? could have been the game calculating the relative size.

actually, I think it might be normal. I checked on it and I had the same thing, my guess is that the base size could be 9 and then it adjusts to whatever size hull you're using and the miniturization.

The devs will probably know for sure if this is a bug or if this is normal.

It probably has a SizeMod field that is based off the hull size. So if you have no hull selected, you wouldn't see a sizemod value.

I have no mod installed Vanilla!

Prior to installing a component or components the size is stated at one value.
After you select a hull to build any hull, you now select any component other than specialized modules such as colony. you will notice all components increase in size once you choose to install on a hull. Price remains the same. Size of the hull does not matter!

This is without any miniturization!

If you have DA play Battle of the Gods senario. This will give you all the components. Check it out yourselves.

I have been using the Terran race.

You're seeing normal behavior, not a bug. Many ship components scale in size depending on the size of the hull - that's what is meant by the "SizeMod" (programmer-speak) reference (it's not suggesting you're using a mod).

You need a lot larger warp drive to move a huge ship than you do to move a tiny ship.
