Wrong version after the update of WindowBlinds 5.50.017!!!!

Wrong version after the update of WindowBlinds 5.50.017!!!!

Hello,

After the upgrade of WindowBlinds build 5.49s beta to 5.50.017 via Stardock Central, the build number is 5.1. Before the update: 5.49s beta.

I try this tip: «I would suggest changing download servers under Tools->Settings and in the Internet Section. You might also want to 'Refresh XML Data' as well.»

Same problem.

But, WindowBlinds show me via "System Information": WindowBlinds 5.1.

I'm really disappointed!!!!

Thanx in advance

Same problems with SoundPackager, NeverTrust and BootSkin.

Soundpackager - it's been stated that it's coming.  I'd rather Stardock get their existing app Vista ready before new apps (of questionable value, it's an unknown)

NeverTrust - supplanted by Windows SP2 I think, no market value

Bootskin - a nightmare to support because BIOS makers are inconsistant

What's your complaint again?  You subscribed (I assume) to ODNT knowing that you get updates and maybe new apps.  Where were you promised free ice-cream too?

I think that overall and in most situations Stardock apps, support, and systems have been great.  Your experiance might be different, that's too bad.  I hope it gets better.  But being negative doesn't engender the desire to assist.

Finally, this problem is gone:
Hello,

Uninstalled wrong build and installed wB 5.49t directly. After that, all my themes (cyclops, 5imple, buufos,... all new themes included for Vista build) are disappeared (empty folders)! Impossible to reinstall because wB 5.49t flush these themes under Windows XP after the installation via Stardock Central. Also, impossible to install wB 5.1x because Stardock Central show me only wB 5.50.017 or wB 5.49t RC1.

Thanx.

Is this fixed yet on SDC servers or not? I'm getting tired of installing and uninstalling.

Darken,

I didn't realize I was not being polite.  Aplogies for any misunderstanding.

What services are not working for you?  The soundpackager you see should not be seen, you've got a bug but not one that is negativly impating you.  Same with NeverTrust.  And I am not sure what version of Logon Studio you are trying to install (or what you have installed) but I'm sure it'll be sorted out soon.

I've discovered a problem - the last two builds of Windowblinds downloaded using Stardock C, have had problems applying a new windowblind.

When I click on a new windowblind, and apply - the blur screen appears and locks up my system, "every time."

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 91 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

It's not fixed yet... I don't understand why this is so difficult for SD to solve this. You guys have had 9 hours to solve this. Either put the right version of the download on SDC or get rid of the "new version available" for 5.50.017. How hard can this be? God dang it people!!!!

BTW, SDC is downloading a wb5.sdc file when you tell it to install the 5.50.017. Asking your service to email me a link to the new version of 5.5 does the same thing... it sends me a link to the 5.10 version.

You guys are letting things slide through the cracks and it's affecting your customers. Someone needs to get fired if they can't properly manage the people responsible for these development changes. I don't think it's a difficult task for anyone to do. Either do it right or don't do it at all.

Please post in this thread and let us ALL know when this is fixed because obviously we CAN'T trust SDC to give the right info.

9 hours..... that's funny.

Hello all,

The problem is gone:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Okay, the solution is (under Windows XP):

- Backup all custom themes
- Uninstall WindowBlinds via Stardock Central (choose to delete all themes).
- Reboot
- Delete this folder: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds
- Flush all files and folders located here: C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\Local Settings\Temp
- Open Stardock Central
- Go to Tools --> Settings --> Internet
- Refrest list
- Refrest XML Data
- Click ok
- Go to Tools and click on Check for Application Updates
- Uncheck Show pre-release versions
- Install WindowBlind 5.1
- Reboot
- Check Show pre-release versions
- Install WindowBlind 5.49t
- Reboot

For all default wB 4.xx themes, just install before wB 5.xx. Backup all themes. Uninstall, Reboot and install wB 5.1.xx + wB 5.49t.

Do not install wB 4.49t directly. ou are going to have this problem:
Uninstalled wrong build and installed wB 5.49t directly. After that, all my themes (cyclops, 5imple, buufos,... all new themes included for Vista build) are disappeared (empty folders)! Darken, the problem is not solved. SDC still shows version 5.50.017 when you have 5.10 installed. And installing a 5.49t (BETA version) is not a fix.

*Update*
Just to clear this up for "closed minded people" since I know it'll come up. If you CLEAR your checkmark to "Show Pre-Release" version you'll see what I mean about the 5.50.017 version still being shown on SDC. If you have Show Pre-Release checked it will show you the BETA version. This is what I meant above when I said IT IS NOT FIXED!!!

This just goes to show you how SD even tests things out after correction... NOT VERY THROUGHLY!!!

FIX IT!!!

Download and install the updated SDC and version 5.50.017 will not be there. Version 5.49t (beta) is the latest release and is working fine.

Perhaps if you check things out more "thoroughly" you will find this problem to be resolved.

I'm running the latest build (based on the fact that SDC always prompts to get updated if there's a new version that comes out... are you saying that this isn't working either? What's new?)

The version info on my SDC is 2.38.436 build: 139 is this the latest or not according to what version you are showing?

How about EVERYONE takes a step backwards, and thinks about how childish they're acting....

....hmmm?

I mean really, ...there's a whole slew of worse things going on in the world than a silly caching error on the WB server.

Haha... I just downloaded the "latest" SDC from your link and low and behold... wow, it's the same version as what I had before (because updates to SDC come in when you start SDC if there is one available. It's the same version as stated in my previous post and guess what? It still shows the new 5.50.017 as an available update.

The 5.50.017 shows up as an available update when you don't have "Show Pre-Release Versions" checked!!!

So, who's not being thourough now?

Hello,
You are not listening to me. Yes, I know what you wrote above will fix the issue (IF YOU WANT TO RUN A BETA VERSION), that's not what I am saying. I don't want version 5.49t as it is a BETA. Fact of the matter still exists... the SDC servers are still messed up with the version numbers. If version 5.50 does not exist in available downloads, then it should now show up in SDC, which is what is happening if you pay close attention to my posts above.

Hope that we're all clear now.
