You lose the game event

So, I would like to know if anybody has ever gotten this owned...
I tried playing a gigantic map, rare everything, and very slow research, just to see what it would be like to take the colony phase out of the game. I was off to a decent start, got a precursor library on my homeworld + a double research and double manufacturing (and no ctrl+n cheese) and was smart enough to grab the Magic touch bonus to up my PQ by 2. I was setting up my arrays of starbases, and i realized my placement on the map only allowed for 12, and started getting mildly angry, but no biggie until this happened...

Before I clicked turn (roughly, had to pull an autosave, but close enough):

After I clicked turn I got the event that says "Races deemed evil blah blah, a new faction called the fundamentalists have arisen and taken a few of our planets"

O_o OH NOES! I ONLY GOTZ 2 PLANETS!!!!!

Before i went out of the event, i thought worst case I gotta research planetary invasion, which i hadn't done, and battle back for my homeworld... not exactly what happened:

And the Fundamentalists said: "All your base are belong to us"... seriously... all of them... i lose, and there hadn't even been a war in the galaxy yet.

Must suck being evil.

I never lose any planets to that event, but I am always a neutral civ.

Live and learn, as they say.

Well, i didn't exactly have any colonization events to sway my ethics...

Then it would probably depend on your starting 'Alignment' attribute.
Which race were you playing as?

Ack, apparently I'm retarded... let me try that image thing again

The Yor's starting alignment is set at 25, which is on the evil side of things.

I have never seen that event come up so early in the game, though. Rotten luck.

"All your base are belong to us".

Had the Fundamentalist event a few times and it is a bad one to get, but that is the chance you take when you play as Evil

Better luck next game!!

A random "you lose" event shouldn't happen, though. Events like that should have checks to make sure that you can recover from them.

I agree. That particular event should not be able to take more than half the planets.
That would have only left one in this case, but at least it would not have ended the game.

This reminds me of my early games on Normal difficulty. This event would keep happening and crippling the Evil races. Stardock's idea of having game shifting events is a good one, but hopefully the execution of it in Dark Avatar will be a bit better than it is in Dread Lords.

I have to say, that would upset me something terrible.

I think Stardock should take the time to look into this event. I know there should be a down side to being Evil, however, an instant you lose event should not be a factor in the game for the Good, Evil or Neutral civs in the game.

Some events should not happen until a certain amount of time has gone by and certain criteria are met. This is one of them.

Just my opinion of course.

Fundies are the counter to all the good boni that come with evil alignments. I think it works just as it should.

Anybody know how to custom your own maps

Holy attempt to completely revert and hijack batman o_O.

What does this have to do with this post in any way, shape, or form? Seriously... I'm confused.

I think this is a good event, and does give being Evil a definite down side, but there should be no way in the world that it takes every single planet you own. They should leave you with at least one and let you suffer. Yes, I said I'd be really ticked if it happened to me the way n0v4k4n3 described...

"All your base are belong to us"

Seriously, If this would have happened to me after 3 or 4 years on a small map, I would have had to buy a new monitor... Hehehe

Maybe he wanted to Mod this event out of the game?
(hehe was worth a shot)
