Its hopeless!

I am never going to be able to update this game or do anything to it because although I have entered what I think is the serial code, it keeps telling me when I install updates or whatever I have to enter it.
And there is NO serial code on the back of my bloody jewel case! There is a very long code on my CD but none on the case.
And I put that code into the "update serial" box but still, keep getting message when I install things that I haven't done it!
What is going on!? Is there any hope for me ever?? This has been frustrating me for ages.

erm, this is embarrasing. Something finally happened and its registered. I'll just fall down this hole now and hide.

As long as you have the game installed and can run it then there is never any need for embarrassment here. Glad you got the issue rectified

Please go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever you installed the game at), open the debug.err file you find there in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

I'll see that bet, and raise you another $25 on video card issues.

How about both?

Not only can't I edit. The edit option is completely gone. What's going on here?

PS. Probably low on virtual memory as well.

New forum build--where you'd get an error page trying to edit before, the option just isn't there now. It's *supposed* to only do that if someone else has replied after your post though--you should be able to edit your post if there are no replies after it. If it's not working right, report it to support@stardock.com.

I reinstalled the entire game then reinstalled the patch. I don't get the same problems as before. Now the text doesn't show up on selection boxes.

every box that you can click on. Be it "new game" or one of the technology selections in the technology tree. Every box you can click.

May or may not have something to do with it, but you may want to install the correct monitor driver and change the game resolution to 1280x800. You will probably need to edit prefs.ini to get the correct resolution.
