How much are you willing to pay?

Have an Idea? Willing to pay? This is the place to publish!

Ok so far most people are willing to pay 50 or so dollars more for a few things. With all the new ideas to get them implemented may cost a great deal more. (say 100 dollars) This is revolutionary how we can now make suggestions and really make a difference in the game in every sense.

This is a complete list of all the “add on’s” I have found from this and other forums that I can for see and many people seem to be asking for.

Combat
Tactical Combat. (I don’t agree fully, I like just watching the fight. I hate playing General, I like playing King)

Galaxy Changes
- the milky way
-Planets rotate around the sun
- nebulas (on the space map, be able to get into the nebula and then you are not visible for ships to see you)
- moon bases (sounds nice, good idea make use of those moons on gas planets)
- Colonize moons off planets (we have moons around Jupiter we can try to colonize in a few hundred years)
be able to control planets rings, like Saturn's ring is not flat, it's diagonal.
-more then 5 planets in a system. at least 12 so all the family can go (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Chars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Aris, Sadna) perhaps show the planets Orbit around the sun via ring.
- rings and moons can be in any shape (diagonal, horizonal, vertical)
- be able to set planet rotation speed
- more reallistic clouds and planet textures.
- more surface maps - raw files
-when researching have option to make a dead planet habitable with orbital terra forming (or do something with it, mining, military use… ect)
-show tourism traffic and internal trades, kinda dead out there ya know
-creating stars & planets later in the game
-under water buildings

Misc
- be able to play as pirates
-open/ closed borders with other races (is your culture divers or just one species?)
-diplomacy screen to see what the minor races are doing as well
-a better tutorial
-Minor races able to be a major race
-Major races are top 10 races. (You can get demoted!)
-Play as a minor race
-customizable weapons (maybe Tech tree never ends. Research shields +X)
-Carriers (module allowing a limited number of low logic point ships to move for free, no longer needing to install engines)
-Terror Stars
-use moon, and low PG planets for experimental/ science bonus (Military testing, ect)
-general idea of the life span of all the races living under your civilization
-able to research biological technology like the dread lords had (the Thalan empire might start this)

Sure, I'd dish out 50 bucks, pretty much doesn't matter what Stardock offered -- I like their business model and I want to see them succeed. Of course, I also dished out 50 bucks on MOO 3 because I didn't want to see the franchise die

-when researching have option to make a dead planet habitable with orbital terra forming (or do something with it, mining, military use… ect)
-Family tree , all great leaders die
-leader bonuses and pricate ships
-better view of how your planet looks like
-Generals!
-Rebellions and become nation (ex. The Gragorg rebellion)
-show tourism traffic kinda dead out there ya know
-a better tutorial
-customizable weapons Generals and Family trees?
-Carriers (module allowing a limited number of low logic point ships to move for free, no longer needing to install engines)

We need to organize what we want. Show were willing to pay, and allow for time to pass. I’m sure the makers are taxed making this game even better for us every day.
Please don’t talk too much, we have other forums for what we want and how we want it. This is to simply put down ideas and how much you would pay.

For good multiplayer support and better combat (like in Sword of the Stars (SotS)) I would pay the equivalence of 40 US dollars.

GC II is truly a great game but it is lacking in tactical combat and multiplayer support and those are the only reasons Im playing SotS instead of GC II right now.

On a different note, what would be the point of carriers, besides the cool factor, in GC II? There is no tactical combat and all weapons has the same range and the combat starts with the ships really close to each other.

Really dont see what carriers could add in such a limited combat system. I mean the point of carriers, again besides the cool factor, is to attack from far, far away possibly without even revealing the position of the carrier because otherwise anyone with a half of brain would go for the carrier instead of the fighters they house. And right now this is not possible in GC II without radically changing how combat works.

However in a game like SotS, with huge tactical battle area I could see the point of carriers. GC II with SotS tactical combat and multiplayer ability would truly be a great game.

I'll pay for more then one moon in a system. and a better ring graphic, for example:

-be able to control planets rings, like Saturn's ring is not flat, it's diagonal.
-more then 5 planets in a system. at least 12 so all the family can go (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Chars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Aris, Sadna)

- rings and moons can be in any shape (diagonal, horizonal, vertical)
- be able to set planet rotation speed
- more reallistic clouds and planet textures.
- more surface maps - raw files
- be able to set each race it's own events and when they will happen
- be able to play as pirates!
- be able to choose to be good and then turn to evil (if you want to)
- moon bases (sounds nice, good idea)
- nebulas (on the space map, be able to get into the nebula and then you are not visible for ships to see you)
- the milky way
- getting each planet a real name and not only for race home systems.

that's what I will pay for! but it's also what I think the game should imporve in Galciv 3...

This is starting to sound like GalCivIII: Total War.

Crap, hit post and can't edit. I'd pay more for better diplomacy!!! I would like more diplo functions and options. The ability to threaten, cajole, warn, and most importantly, coordinate with other AIs.

I've said this before and yes - I know - it's never going to happen, but I'd love to see Star Trek, Babylon 5, BSG, Stargate and Star Wars get together and release mod packs for GalCiv2 and other popular games.

Another thing that I've said before is how the Ship Creator works - that it could be much better. I would like to be able to go into the shipyard screen and click on a button that says "view available online models".

This would then load other peoples designs straight from the web (while keeping everything "in game" - e.g. via XML / Ajax or whatever). I then be able to see what ships others have created - and include them in my game. E.g. I could select the hull and components I want, then click on "view other peoples designs" and choose a nice looking ship design.

Or I could choose to use only models from a particular set that someones created (e.g. before the game begins).

Or I could upload my own designs for others to use (and it will record how many times people have used my design).

On the net everything is revloving around user generated content and the distribution of it. If Stardock want to be smart they should convert this into gaming (there are other ways to do it than multiplayer!)

I would pay nothing for carriers, as they cannot have any practical application beyond just making them a fourth weapon type due to the way GalCiv handles combat, and I am fine with three.

For a mulitplayer upgrade, I would pay about of $30 for it.

More modability (if that's a word ), the power to make much more complex and game-changing mods, less hardcoded and more in XML. Obviuosly I'd like to see more so people other than modmakers would buy it . User-created conetent is the future.

I would pay $40-50 for more weapons choices. Like heavy mount, point defense, etc. Along with that, maybe an easier way to use your spies. For example, rather than tossing them onto a tile and it ceases working, give them a few turns to TRY get there, and then they are invisible for a little while, unless you have an agent already on there. Then use the 'ole dice to see who stays, the other dies.

I personally wouldn't explicitly pay money for a multi-player expansion, not because I don't think this could be fun, but because I would be stuck playing on the very smallest maps. My games last long enough with just me making decisions on who to invade, what to build, go get food, what to research, hit the bathroom. I remember trying one game in MoO2, which I think goes far far faster, and we got about 2 hours into it and then had to quit. I just think the game has too much depth and takes too long to really be a feasibly fun and accessible online game. The last reason (which is usually the reason I would go for multi-player) is that none of the people I know play this game. They are almost all into WoW or the big FPS games.

Ummm, besides the 20k hardcap... what numerical value isn't already modifiable?

And you can already mod the images, flavor text... add your own techs...

Really... this game is basically an engine with a bunch of default settings. Honestly this is one of the best mod-friendly applications I've ever worked with. I even based several parts of my senior project design off of it.

This is a lot of great information. Though I dont see this as a multiplayer game. I dont want to wait 40 minutes because somone is designing there ship. And I fully agree with Reply 5. Those are some good ideas and should be made and implimented ASAP

Interactive UP. Let me submit proposals.
Diplomacy options. Let me tell the AI to carry on or die.
Better AI conquest. Prepare for war then attack instead of telling me.
Social Builds. More TGs and GWs.

Multipalyer, Carriers, Tactical Combat aren't necessary to me but plenty of others want them so wht not.

Depending on how much got implemented 50-100 USD. Like Jeff Graw said, I'd like to see these guys succeede.

not sure if it's Sadna or Sedna or Sadne but anyway, in 2005 NASA found 3 more planets that are much the same as pluto. although they are even more small then pluto, Aris that is really far from pluto got a small moon (which is a rock) and Sanda is the last planet that they found that the Sun gets to it. it's like 5 Billion + Km from the sun.

they are not planets, but they have a mass bigger then an Astroied and now, anything that will pass this mass, will be called "tiny planet".

recoreding to what I read, there are over 1500 planets over there that are much smaller and a little bigger then pluto. it's own of the Kupier Belt Astroids that their mass are a little bigger then a regular Astroid.

if you read National Geographic you will learn much more then you ever did. like that Jupiter have a ring! and Neptune too! they are not as big as Uranus and Saturn but they are there!

Jupiter have 63 moons and 48 has been given names. Saturn have 45+ planets and 35 has been given names. Uranus and Neptune got a lot of moons too, but I don't know the exact amount.

I forgot to tell you about Chars, but you didn't ask.. anyway I told you much then you asked so it's a small rock, that have a shape of a Planet and it's stuck in the Astroid filed between Mars and Jupiter.

the three planets are not a pard of our Sol System, we only have 8 that are planets but they will always find some new planets! they are countless!

anyway, if anyone got any comment to say about it, because it's what I remember and I'm not sure! so you are welcome to disagree

There are a lot of caps, such as 10 major races, 3 forms of government with hardcoded bonuses, 3 types of weapons and defenses and the bonus tiles.

Now I'm not saying this isn't moddable, it is a great deal more moddable than many games out there and I like that.

The most mod-friendly games I've worked with is Civilization IV, where Firaxis has practically released the source code.

I know, i begged for the source already. Then they told me to get a job.
