Video Freezing

The in game videos keep on lagging to a ridiculous degree. It essentially stays the same image the entire time, and if I'm lucky, it might change to a different frame at the last second before the end of the entire video. I know that it isn't my computer, as I have a fairly mid-range system that meets the recommended system requirements. The audio is absolutely fine, and there is no lag with it, but no video throughout the entire game works...Please help!

Saw your other reply with the debug. I had the same video card and movies would not play properly on it. Frame by frame once every minute is what I had. Hate to say it , but the only solution I found came in the form of a shiny new graphics card  . Now movies play fine.

Go to My Documents, My Games, GalCiv2. Double click on preferences and change the "Fullscreen=1" value to "Fullscreen=0". This was just posted by another user, I tried it and now my video runs Much better. Hope it helps.

Generally problems with video stuttering are caused by using anti-aliasing on low end cards or some certain ones such as the GeForce FX series which just can't handle it very well. Turning AA down to 0 (off) in the game's options will generally clear up the issue.

If that doesn't fix it, please post the contents of your debug.err, which can be found at C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (if you installed at the default location).

Thanks for the quick response. The fullscreen fix seemed to almost eliminate the problems. Thanks again!
