Updating the biggest suite ever made : Heavy Equipment

common !!!!

Yep everyone, Skinning is (for me, and probably for the much part of you) firstly a question of sharing.

Once upon a time and before (i think ) WinCustomize was created, probably the biggest suite ever made was done, over which, a lot of talented skinners have bring their time and feelings ... i'm talking about HEAVY EQUIPMENT stuff.

Apart that i love this suite, i think it would be a great thing, that to increase this spirit of sharing, once again those who would want to, would be OK to update skins to latest softwares versions.

Here's the "main" element (i mean WindowBlinds) https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=1260&LibID=1 but you can also still find
- Iconpackage https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=637&LibID=2
- One Screenshot https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=653&LibID=13 shawing a great part of the suite
- A version of Suite itself https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=101&LibID=22
- A pack of Wallpapers https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=24&LibID=8
- A Winamp https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=17&LibID=10
And probably founding others software skins by searching better ...

As far as i'm concerned, i should be OK to bring up updates to a fiew apps but not for all, and also not for the coordination of it ...

Anyone to build up this project ?

Anyone can revise/update the HE suite....the only stipulation is that the original 'community skin readme' be included which lists all those who partook in the original, and their contribution/s.

Yep i know that Jafo, i tried to find if Crumbut still skins but didn't found any info ....   (for permission )

But others are still in (i think of treetog at least ...) who might have already web structures to coordinate that project ...

In another way, i don't know if all softwares already skinned are still used by people, and perhaps it wouldn't be the first priority to try to re-skin alls ...

I just throw up in the air that idea, hoping something's will happen happen

it was fun working on that project..... I remember that Quicknotes was the only thing I could skin back then. I actually made 2 Quicknotes skins, I wonder if I still have them.........?

hehe.... I found my skins....
this was the first one... http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/11543/
the second one... http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/11417/
Did you know that there was a SECOND community project, called "Formula One"?
I did a skin for that too...... http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/27229/?qo=8&q=by%3Aboxxi+in%3Acustomization%2Fskins%2Fnotes%2Fquicknotes&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps
This was the main skin for that project.... http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/26340/?&q=formula+one&qh=in%3Acustomization%2Fskins%2Fwindows%2Fwindowblinds+sort%3Atime

And you can see ALL the CommunitySkin stuff here..... http://communityskin.deviantart.com/gallery/

I am quite sure that the others in 'CommunitySkin' will be OK with my OK-ing subsequent revisions, etc. ....provided they have that text as I posted.  Subsequent additions to it to be posted after the

'++++++++++++++++++++' line at bottom...to differentiate from the original communal works.

Chad has 'moved on' to Game skinning....and admins on http://forum.rscnet.org

I caught up with him a few months ago....

Did you know that there was a SECOND community project, called "Formula One"?

And a somewhat lesser one revolving around the Deviantart site graphics...called 'Deviantskin'.

All were almost impromptu gatherings of a disparate bunch all with a common 'theme', and an idea to extend the boundaries of what was to then the common perception of skinning being a bunch of people doing their 'own thing'.

Heavy Equipment was by far the biggest and arguably the best...

Thanks for the links Boxxi. The F-1 DX theme is very cool.

Well, it's about two days i think, i throw up this !... (was supposed to be an article ...).
Thanks to those guys who where interested in, but I think clear,, sharing is not the priorority .... thouh, this project is dead at life ...

Hmm, I still have the whole suite on a Backup-CD here and once a year I think about how great it would be to update it.

give it a little more time - 2 days isn't that long (people do have other things to take care of)

I would love it if this skin suite were updated, however I didn't realize how incredibly huge it was/is! Lordy, that is going to be a job and a half. NeoPhil, give it a week or so, some folks don't check in every day. It is a great idea, just give folks time to even hear about it.

It might be good to make a list of what actually needs updating. The WindowBlinds skin does for sure, but lots of those apps haven't been changed in years or don't even exist anymore.

You've said it ... thanks for the updating of WB ...

This is wonderful! I like the way everyone put in a part to make this whole skin a reality. It would be nice to collaberate with others to do something like this again. Just watching it fall into place would be a learning experience for me and maybe for other newbies.

I don't know why it was not posted as an article ... (I had do for this ...    )
( ... and why, it's not easy to find it in forums ...    )

i'll start working on the cursor.., if u guys want so...
