Well, the point I was trying to make is the same one you were making in the first half of post #45. Whether or not I successfully conveyed that point is another issue, of course.

Actually, what your money paid for was the game, which you got, end of deal. Anything that Stardock provides afterwards, be it patches, extra content, websites, forums, etc. are a gift. These forums are paid for by Stardocks money, which is (by extension) Brad's money; our money ceases to be ours once we bought thier product, and we only have claim to that product, nothing more.

I'm glad that they didn't shut them down a few months ago (like they were thinking of doing), but had they done so, I really couldn't blaim them. It's a lot of headache to deal with.

And before one of you throws the old "this isn't a Democracy this is a website" crap at me remember, even though the Army was the original developer of the internet (there's one for the conspiracy files)it is here for all of us.

This server is not public property, it belongs to Stardock. We pay for it, we can say what happens on it. Your money became our money when you bought the game, and as Feud says, all we owe you is that game. Now of course, we most generally strive to be as open and supportive of our products and customers as we can (unlike some other developers/publishers, where you only ever get the game and that's it)--but there are limits to anything.

This was all covered quite extensively back in the 'Locking political posts' thread, and Brad said the same thing there as I've said. We don't care which end of the political spectrum you're on--that's not the point. Any political threads most generally turn to little more than bashing, preaching, and flaming, and that can only hurt the community here. You're more than welcome to discuss things on JU or elsewhere; we just don't want them here where they're liable to cause problems that will overflow into the rest of the forum.

I didn't lock this thread before, and I'm not going to do it now, since it seems to have remained just ever so on the 'civil enough' side of the line against all odds. But I would suggest, since it's gone so far off topic and already caused some minor arguments, that we just let it fade.

Well, hopefully Stardock gets something out of these forums for their trouble. I know Brad seems to have picked up some ideas for the new combat system from the DA thread recently.

I also (god help me) read the official Medieval 2: Total War forum. CA takes the other approach, with the developers not interacting at all on the forum. Hopefully Stardock actually benefits from taking a more active role. As a fan, I'm certainly more inclined to get attached to the company due to these forums.

Though to be fair though, the Total War forums are a vile place, so I can't blame CA for avoiding them...

So it's in better taste to bash all the countries instead of just one. I'd continue this except that this is a battle of wits and it's obvious that you are unarmed.

The reason that we ask people to stay away from politics and other topics liable to start flame wars is that we want people to come back to this site.  If people come on and start reading the most recent posts and they're about politics or religion or just a flame war over someone's "I gotta have this feature or I'll die" feature, they're probably going to be turned off.

I do not come onto these forums and slam Canada, France, Spain, Germany, Mexico, England, The United States or any other country for that matter. All countries and forms of Government have their good points and bad. I have respect for every country regardless of political, racial, or religious views. I have lived all over the world and have seen and experienced, first hand, other cultures and their views and opinions on the United States. As a teen I lived, and traveled through Europe, and as an Adult I have lived and traveled through Asia, I have seen it Marc.......... Have you?

However, as I said. There are people that don't like the US (and I used to be one of them, I did grow rather fond of it after spending some time in florida) and it has very little to do with jealousy, there's generally a political reason.

Now, I apologise for my statement, but yours did read to me as "Everyone who doesn't like the US is jealous" which I would think is an ignorant statement.
