Windowblinds and Wallpaper Changing

Windowblinds and Wallpaper Changing

Hello friends...

I wrote a message over a month ago about the wallpaper changer feature not working in Windowblinds.  Well, it still does not appear to be working in the latest build of WB.  The only option that does work is the change at login... but, it does not work on the hourly option.  Does anybody have any ideas?  Thanks for the help!

Listed below is the system info from WB:

Hopefully, they will find the trouble and get it fixed!

Let's hope rather sooner than later

Well, time is still ticking away with no answers from Stardock or within these forums. It is disappointing that nothing has been discovered of why the wallpaper changing features do not work for some of us. Oh well... not a do or die type of thing to worry about.

Did you try Reply #25's method? <---- That looks like a reply "within these forums"

We are currently looking into why this appears to be happening and once we find out why we will update 5.1.

Also that appears to be a reply from Stardock.

Hankers... yes, I've tried reply #25... even before it was posted. I've tried multiple options with no success. And yes, I know that it appears to be a reply from Stardock. I'm not stupid. I just was hoping that a resolution to the issue would have been discovered... especially since I know that previous e-mails, support requests, and forum posts have gone unanswered in the past regarding technical issues.

I just Uninstalled 5.1, walls didn't change every hour for me either. And many other naggy little problems, menus unreadable with cleartype, poor 120 dpi support after all these years. Sorry Stardock, would rather have NO themes, than naggy issues. I know it is my setup with 120dpi, but you dont say it wont work without editing themes anywhere on your site.

bkmo... I too have noticed a couple of issues with Cleartype and the latest release of WB. Not that I'm complaining loudly because part of it is the fonts being used by the skinners. But, it is still frustrating!

How long does it take to find, recognize and fix a bug? It takes to long. It's very frustrating if someone sells you something that doesn't work. Very amateurish attitude.

We believe we have resolved the problem with the wallpaper changer hourly option.  It seems having done initial testing with it set to 1 minute, it got broken when it was changed to every hour.

We have also modified WB to hardcode the IE7 tab text to black to avoid some reported issues with the IE7 tabs using skin colours for the text, but a hardcoded image for the tabs.

Once the new build has been tested, it will be released as an update.

wscwebyoda: I am not aware of any cleartype issues being caused by WB 5.1.  Could you explain further?

bkmo: Some skin authors make assumptions about the size of various things (in particular the startmenu) and their skins to not handle 120 dpi well.  You will need to speak to the skin authors as it is not a problem in WB.

Likewise some ownerdrawn menus can have odd text with some skins, but this is because the skin author chose a very poor colour combination.  Again you will need to speak to the author of the skin, as WB is not at fault.  When skinning menus you have to make sure that various colours are similar.

Neil... thanks for the update! Glad to know that Stardock is working diligently on getting the bugs fixed. Too bad that the update wasn't completed before my OD subscription ran out.

The constant improvements and updates are an incentive to renew your subscription. Where else in the software world can you get such good value
