Invasion Strats

Seize or Destroy ?

I use different invasion tactics depending on my game alignment. When EVIL I will use mini-soldiers to take a high value world, but I love to use mass drivers, tidal disruptors to leave a devasated planet with a small occupation force. When GOOD or Neutered, I have not had much luck with Info Warfare so I just use tons of transports and attack until I own the place.

LOL! Neutered, hehe.
I never use Mass Drivers, something about lowering PQs puts me off. I do, however, use alot of Tidal Disruptors when evil. The AI doesn't know how to build up his planets, and unless there is something I need(a capitol or a hyperion shrinker or something), the tides will rise and the cities will fall.
And I thought Mini Soldiers were the good option, you know, sacrifice the robots and not the men.

Well, often when Evil, I enjoy ruining the aliens world, leave it an unusable mess. And yes the mini-bots would work for GOOD, but I do not usually reseach them when playing as a goody.

Multiple successful invasions are about efficiency. If you get into a war of attrition where 1 enemy pop kills one invader and so on, you will quickly exhaust your invasion forces. You have to stack the odds as far in your favor as possible, minimize your losses, and hit multiple planets in quick sucession. To do this you need maxed out soldiering, fast transports with 5bil troops each, and really good logistics to get the odds to at least 2 or 3 to 1. Also use mini-soldiers, the cost is worth it.

i use mini soldiers allot
if i attack a planet with very low moral, i use information warfare sometimes.
and i use mass drivers at the end of the game were the planet i invade is not needed anymore.

Same here, mini solidiers and tidal disrupters early game, mass drivers toward the end.

Here's an idea...

If a planet has a large population and you don't want to lower the PQ, try this...

Attack with mass drivers using an insufficient number of troops to fully get the job done - make sure you lose, but in doing so you reduce its population considerably. Then send in a second transport, utilizing less destructive methods like traditional warfare or mini-soldiers, with enough soldiers to succeed. The improvements and the PQ will then be intact.

Yes, the Liberesio strat will work. At first I built 2 types of transports, one with 1 troop mod and another with 2 mods. I built hem to be visually distinct and attacked with a 1 + 2 punch ... Until my soldering tech got to high and the mass driver assault with 1 troop mod won !!! Opps, planet Devestated !!!

So now I do not fill the 1 mod ship with troops, just enough soldiers to inflict some casulties to the defending army. But the best number of troops for the job depends on the enemy's pop and soldier rating too... It is not always perfect...
That is why when I attack as an EVIL race I just use the Mass Driver pulverize strat, (even early game)

As a GOOD race I will use the Liberesio plan, but on that sweet PQ26, Eden-like world, I will still use a mass transport attack until I win strat.

I normaly get such a high tech rating and soldering rateing that I just use the Information thing, and get more guy's for my team, because the AI never build up there planets with population... or anything for that matter!

The Libersio plan as we now know it is really really good, simple way to win kudos for figureing that one out mate!
