Request for Event removal from the game

Request for Event removal from the game

Just the one please :)

I am formally requesting on behalf of many players that the "Attack PC and Meltdown CPU" event be removed from the game!!

This event is the one spawned when a foreign leader is assassinated and a private 'army' comes to the new leaders aid after they declare war on you. This usually ends up spawning 1000+ ships on a gigantic map and literally shuts the game down as most processors cannot deal with the huge no.s of ship moves.

Maybe one of the other gamers here can tie down the event to the exact wording for you, but please consider removing this event as having to CTRL+ALT+DEL to shut down the game is very annoying. Esp late in the game!!

One player in my forums has just had the event and over 4000 ships were spawned!!!!

Many thanks

DG

thats why games come with a list of required hardware on the back or bottom of the game BOX or case

Monc34, you wouldn't consider a patronizing statement like this to be childish? My assumption would be that pretty much anyone posting to a forum like this would be well aware of hardware specs...

Are you SURE the ~5000 # of ships is literal, or has some 'exaggeration for effect' been employed?

No exaggeration whatsoever, it was approx 4000 of the little blighters as I said - at least 10 per sector (every sector). The number of ships is probably related to difficulty level and your current military power in some way.

I've got nothing against the random event that sends me into an unwanted war - I can handle that no problem, but why the pointless thousands of completely ineffective ships? Give them 100 battleships instead.

To clarify on another point - espionage can, and does, prevent the "your leader inadvertantly insulted X leader and started a war" event. It does not prevent this completely random event of "X leader was assassinated during a trade delegation visit". This can occur at any time regardless of espionage.

Hm...could you tell me where to look for it?
I don't find it anywhere inside the events.xml unfortunately

I have not had the event but can not see any added value in hundreds or thousands of ships poping out of nowhere.

Even those little ships can take out unarmed constructors, starbases and troop transports, so they are not pointless. They are just a lot of trouble to deal with, which is probably the main point.

I like the event, it is a good change of pace from the regular fleet battles.
It is like stepping in an ant hill and getting swarmed with the little buggers.

I second the initial proposal. To be honest, I reload when this event happens - not because I couldn't take it, but it requires a lot of pointless and unnecessary clean-up work for the player.

It is an annoying and un-fun event. I wouldn't miss it. If they want to keep the bonus ships for the enemy, just give the AI some reasonable number of their current best combat ship design. Say that their supporter paid for the construction or something.
