Galactic Powder Keg

I decided I was going to invade the Drath in my last game, and I felt comfortable since I had three allies already (in a universe of 9 players). So I invaded.

Then all heck broke loose.

I invaded them, so thier ally (Iconions) declared war on me, so my allies declared war on him, so his (the Iconion) allies (the Altarins) declared war on them, so I declared war on Altarians (to honor the alliance)...

By the time it was over there were twelve declarations of war on the screen, all on one turn becuase I went to war with one race. Instantly the peaceful galaxy was thrown into absolute chaos, the only races not involved were the Humans and Yor. It was the coolest thing I have yet seen in the game. I reloaded it just so I could do it again!

I love the new mechanics of the game.

Plunging all the galaxy into War! I had it happen when one of my allies attacked another civ, and here I was, minding my own business, plodding along in my ivory tower doing research and minting cash. Pesky aliens making too much noise on my front lawn. So I bought as many of the other civs transports and combat ships as I could, just to reduce the intensity of the war.

I've also seen it happen pre 1.3, in this case it was various alliances with major civs and minor civs, the Yor declared war on the Paulos or something and then a chain reaction broke out and most races were at war with each other.

I love those. The number of times that I have purposely tried to do that.....
