Alexians? Kwilasians?

I was looking through the English.str, and I realised that in all the games I've played, I've never seen the minor races Alexians or Kwilasians. From what I can tell, the Kwilasians and Alexians (Along with the Carinoids, Dark Yor, etc) appear at the very beginning of the game, so I tried a few galaxies and still couldn't get them to appear. I got all the others, but those two weren't there.

Has anyone ever encountered either of these minor races, or are they in the same category as the Space Shark and the Terror Star (IE, potentially there, just not used)?

They should appear randomly from the start, though you may need to play on larger maps to get them (smaller maps have much smaller chances to spawn minors, and in fewer numbers).

I have not seen any of those either. I am sick of seeing the Dark Yor, had those loads of times, such a scarey description and what do they do? Sit there like any other minor, not really doing much of anything. It would be cool if they just built military ships and went on a rampage every now and again.

Would be nice to have a minor races option in set up to make them abundant  , add it to the wish list...

I have seen then on my large maps and even my medium maps from time to time i rarely see the dark yor

Ah, I see. I usually play on medium-large maps, it could partially explain why I haven't seen them.

Strange, though, that some people see certain minors more than others...

play gigantic, everything abundent with one other opponent and you generally get a full complement of minors.

I have seen the Alexians but not the Kwilasians. The Kwilasians were on a map I played but they were conquered before I discovered them, I only knew about them when I found out the Drengin were at war with them.

I had one game where I got 2 or 3 minor races "discovered" on a previously class 0 world in my last game, but that was the only game in which it happened. I think I was using +50 luck though, that might have something to do with it.

I've had minor races crop up late game many times, maybe its just to shake things up a little?

In addition Ive seen both of those races you've mentioned. My guess is you just havent been lucky in trying to find them... keep trying!
