Activation sans Internet

I play GalCiv2 on my laptop, which is not connected to the internet. When I need to access the internet, I use the family computer, and when I need to get something from the internet to my laptop (such as the GalCiv2 v1.2 patch), I use rewritable CDs. I tried installing the v1.2 patch on my laptop, it required on online activation, but is there any way for me to activate my game without connecting my laptop to the internet? Thank you.

Is it not possible to temporarily connect your laptop to the internet?

To activate the game on a computer that is not connected, follow these steps:

1) Start the game; you will get a prompt for your serial and email. Provide them and continue.
2) It will fail to activate (of course) and ask if you'd like to activate by email. Click Yes.
3) Copy the subject line and big block of letters into a text file, or into your email program, and save it off to portable media (CDR, USB drive, floppy, etc).
4) Take it to a web-connected PC and send an email to activate@stardock.com with that subject line and content.
5) You should receive a reply with a file and some instructions; take the file back to the non-connected PC and you should be set to go.

I play on my laptop and on my desktop. My laptop came with a bunch of ways to connect to the internet, IEEE1394, bluetooth, modem, wireless, and ethernet are the ones I can think of. At home I use a wireless access point on my LAN for the laptop. Right now, I'm out-of-town using a wireless hotspot to browse this forum. The things are eveywhere now and getting a connection on the go is usually not a problem. Unless you have a pretty old laptop (in which case it probably would not run the game), there should be at least one of those methods available to you. Even the oldest laptops usually have built-in ethernet and modem. Wireless smartcards are inexpensive and are available in whatever card slot system your laptop uses.
