Problem with encoding in french XML files

I have an english version but have tried to get the french files from the 1.2 retail update. To do that, I have changed the value of the language registry key to french. And I was able to get a french version.

And I wanted to open the XML file with IE. Sadly, it won't work on some files due to the encoding: it is set to UTF-8, which doesn't work from some characters. But not all files have this encoding: those with the windows-1252 encoding where displayed correctly.

I did some tests: replace the "UTF-8" with "ISO-8859-1", then it should open in IE.

J'espère que ça marchera

Yeah, I think that the encoding is actually ASCII.  You should be able to open it in notepad if you want to edit it.

Well, I know pretty well that I could change the files to have them with the correct settings. But that won't fix the problem for future updates.

I will also try to see if they are some problems in GC2 patched to french. There is at least one with the files as they are currently: the text description for the humans when starting a new game use the english version and not the french one

Well, it was the case in 1.2 but it is no longer the case for beta 1.3
