You would gain a cd, which would make it much easier if the computer that you use to play on is not internet connected.

The box. You'll want to update it anyway. Version 1.2 is way better than what will be in the box...

One could argue that having the game on CD prevents you from losing everything should StarDock close up shop and disappear but, to be honest, you wouldn't be losing much And it's not like SD is going to go out of business any time soon. Either way is fine, it just depends on wether or not you want a CD.

You have a permanent copy of the game that you can use anywhere (albeat only 1.0 with no patches). There are also some extra goodies in the box (mainly a tech-tree poster) since Stardock ships Collector's Editions only.

I bought my copy of GC2 off the shelf. I have to admit that poster has come in handy a few times. The packaging is nice too.

Thanks for all the help guys, I don't suppose anyone knows how long it would take to ship it to BC, Canada do they?

I personally hate download only. I much rather have a physical copy in my hands. I LOVE the fact that Stardock uses the download and ship method. I can play right away and be content with a physical copy that is professionally printed!

Same here. I like my games in a proper box, with a manual and a tech tree and a pony. And I'd still have the game if Stardock would someday mysteriously explode. For no reason.
