Torian Scum ((Game Example))

I've read a few post about people having trouble with the Torians. Here's a game example that I played through:
On a huge galaxy, with the difficulty on Challenging, I grabbed a nice spot of the galaxy for myself, but the Torians took over a large, central portion of the map. Soon enough, their natural enemies, the Dregin attacked, however, the Torians completely overpowered them, invaded, and took over the Drengin planets too.
For most of this game, I took a backseat, instead opting to supply arms to the smaller races and influence them into petty wars with the Torians. Whilst they were occupied fighting off the Korx, I then built a network of Influence starbases and flipped at least a third of their empire over, including some key planets. Slowly, the Torian's lost their grip on the galaxy and eventually fell after a couple of heated wars with the Korx. They also signed their planets over to me as I had kept friendly relations with them, whilst stabbing them in the back (I did most of my trade with them, we swapped technologies, and eventually, we allied together only about ten turns before Korx destroyed them).
Unless you want a direct war with them, the best way I've found is to beat them at their own game. Build an influential powerhouse using your influence starbases, and make use of any bonuses on planets with Cultural Exchange Centers. In this game, I never entered a single war, but still ended up with all of the Torian's (and Drengin) planets in my possession. It was slow going, but eventually, it worked out.
