Hello, are there any news about Virtual Desktops, or any plans, or a brief user guide ?

Many thanks for your advice, walt

You might be better off asking a specific question. There really isn't an awful lot to Virtual Desktops. Are you having trouble with it? PC

I just found out I can't configure SVD - that option is greyed out.

Huh! Well, mine works o.k. You aren't using a hack are ya?

No, but I've been called one.

Weird everything is now underlining while I type.
Even font and size in the boxes have underlines when I place my cursor in the comment box, but the disappear when I move my mouse out.

Well, I just want to use it and never get a chance even to configure it. What it does is making 4 (four) items in the toolbar and thats it. to configure it is grayed out. What does a geniuos use as a working substitute (substitute to SD Virtual Desktops, I mean). Thanks and cheers, walt in trouble

I can't get it to show up in the toobars manu. It's installed and I follow the instructions shown when I try to run it. But nothing shows in the toolbars. I'm running Windows XP Pro 64 bit. But then again, I'm having problems with several Stardock programs. I'm a recent purchaser and been kinda overwelmed with all the features. I can't find documentation on ObjectDock, Bootskin, (can't get it to work either) nor loginstudio. (Can't get it to work) Does anyone have a suggestion? Ron

It's a little bit annoying. Can't anybody from SD give me a real good substitute for Virtual Desktops which also works with SD stuff like blinds, suites etc. - those are really great. Any tip is more than welcome. Muchos grazias, walt in trouble

I just loaded up Control center (which incorporates Virtual Desktop) and all seems well.
Try installing that and report back.

Also, if you need a reply form Stardock, this is not the best place to post. This si a community forums that's frequented by Stardockians.

For 100% Stardock reply, goto stardock.helpserve.com and create a case. If you don't get an auto-reply, check your junk/spam mail. You should get one.

Many thanks, Zubaz. Great help. I guess, I clicked over thousand SD programs but missed that one. Here, on my latest update it's hidden under ObjectBar and stupid me, I was always looking in the binder called "virtual desktops". Hmmm, getting older isn't always a benefit. On the other hand, I am happy with almost all from SD (except games, which I dont use). Well, well, a little bit of structure wouldn't hurt here. Solong and many thanks again. Will keep me busy for a while. walt out of troubles.

Yes, Control Center works nice, but SVD configure should not be greyed out.

I used to use it, prior to my crash and the subsequent updates.
Unless Tominated comes back with more info, I see if I can figure what needs to also be installed (I haven't installed it all).

There were past posts on this, but I haven't found them yet.

The new release is out - and I like it a lot! It fixed the annoying interference with some of my SysStats docklets in OD+ when changing desktops - woot!

All in all a good day given the latest development in this thread https://www.wincustomize.com/browser/forums.aspx?AID=120536

I need to reboot to be sure but SDC threw two errors while installing SVD:

The above was the URL when I uploaded to my WC photo album . . if it doesn't show the image you can see it here: http://awk.wincustomize.com/photos.aspx?a=2&p=1&view=full

Zubaz,

I had the same error installing on my laptop, I found that if you put your email address and OD serial into the activation dialog that shows up, it'll activate correctly.

Looks like there might still be a bug or two in the program.

Which version of SDC are you trying?

teaguer

Bootskins doens't work for everyone.  Something about BIOS.  There's a couple of versions at the Bootskin page. https://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin/
Object Dock free or Plus?  Corky O has some tutorials here: http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/articles.aspx

Logon Studio has a tutorial in the folder.
Plus, it won't work on a domain and I think you need fast user switching enabled.

Back on topic:

SVD 1.99g[b].007 dtd 6/22/2006

Had to slap my scanner (it thinks all updates involve it's drivers)
Had to activate with email/odnt

But.....   configure is back!  Happy thumbs up.

Uff, I have now tried Virtual Desktop but I still have some troubles:
- I have to start ObjectBar and ObjectDoc and after a while the ControlCenter with
VD, Clock (not analog) and other configurable items pops up.
- the way to config CC is rather different to the doc in SD (actually not a problem,
except there are features described I dont find in real-life)

- big issue is: how do I create/store/place Desktop-Icons on the VirtualDesktops.
(drag+drop didnt work). Maybe I am totally wrong in the meaning, that I not only
can have different wallpapers but also different desktop icons on the VD.

- How does a profi start the ControlCenter ?

Many thanks for your help and have a nice weekend, walt

also different desktop icons on the VD.

don't think so.  at least, I haven't found a way.
