ObjectDock v1.3 & Vista Beta 2

Good morning -- Has anyone gotten ObjectDock v1.3 to install and validate on Vista Beta 2? I've just come across the upgrade but when I install it and reboot, the activate.exe executable fails within Vista and I can't activate the product to run. Yes, I know that Vista is a beta, but I'm a beta tester and feel naked without ObjectDock. Thanks, Michael

I haven't quite finished installing...but have you tried looking through Vista? I heard that there are many "widget" type programs including (perhaps) a dock. Give it a go.

Haven't tried it, but you might go into the security policy dialog ("Run > secpol.msc") and disable one or two of the policies that limit the administrator accounts.

This might prevent "Activate.exe" from being stopped by Vista.

Forgot - the policies referred to will be in the Local Settings > Security Policies, and will be a couple of the "User Account Control..." policies.

Thank you very much for your suggestions but I changed all of the security policy settings and activate.exe still fails. Any other thoughts?

Stupid question . . but can you define "fails"?

Is there an error? Can you see the process run? Firewall?

Not a stupid question at all but rather a fair question.

When the activation starts, an empty window appears titiled "Stardock Product Activation". A Microsoft Windows window quickly appears on top of it that states, "Activate.exe has stopped working". It goes on to say, "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." A button at the bottom of the window simply says, "Close program". When you press the button, a new "Stardock Product Activation" window appears that states, "The product activation was unsuccessful. (Code: -107341819)".

I have turned off the firewall while trying to activate and I still get the same problem.

Thanks!

Oops. After clearing the "product activation was unsuccessful" prompt, I receive an "ObjectDock Plus Activation" window that says, "Product activation was unsuccessful. Please try again. The form at https://www.stardock.com/support can be used to resent the latest download link and serial number to the email address you previously activated under."

I tried that, too, with no change in success.

To fix this problem you have to load Objectdock in compatibitly moded. Go to program files\Stardock\Obectdock\ or where ever you have it installed and find ObjectDock.exe and right click on it and choose Properties. Under the Compatibitily tab put the check mark in "Run this program in compatibitily mode for" and then choose "windows xp (Service Pack 2)" from the drop down menu. Click ok and then run ObjectDock.exe and the activate.exe will run fine at lest it did for me. joey
