I SPY

let the sabotage begin

Hi all,
first of all, Kudos to Stardock for creating this great game!
What I really miss, though, is having more options for my secret service.
1- Specifically, I would love to be able to blow up those pesky starbases the other races keep spamming in my territory without declaring war every time! I would buy and dismantle them if the AI didn't ask such insane prices. Actually, most of the time they do not trade no matter what the offer. So- where is my under cover sabotage op? It could cost a few hundred bc and have a failure rate dependent on both races' espionage bonus, and there could be a political backlash if the operation was discovered.
2- I also liked the "destabilize" option in GC1. This would be nice to have back (morale drop?). Loyalty would help against this.
3- I would like to stage rebellions on border planets to speed up flipping, or flip when they otherwise wouldn't have.
4- spys could steal ships
5- I would like to frame other civs to create tension between to civs
6- I would like to target specific techs for "acquisition"

I am sure there are other things other people can think of, but in general, I would like to see a much more active role for spies in this game.

opinions?

one of the things that the expansion is going to focus on is espianoge of course this will only be implemented if the computer ai can be made to take advantage of this without taking 1 minute between turns. its a tight typerope walk between sweet features and good nonreasource hogging ai

good point. However, this could be part of the "give AI more CPU time" that will be in 1.2 and can be turned off?

I agree with Antibody. Perhaps, you could set the Spying AI at game setup, like you set up the Research Speed. I think that this is the best game of it's kind since MOO2.

All of what you said sounds like something that would be great to have in there. I wan't to crush them all with my secret ninjas and Jack Bauers!

Yes, improved espionage would be nice. For example, you could set your agents to steal enemy designs, and see what they are up to.
