Those cheating Dread Lords

Can´t be attacked while upgrading their ships

Ok this is the very first thing that has pissed me off about the game. I am playing the last mission of the campagin, the Dreadlords are ALL OVER my tiny, puny group of worlds (five) and I have just ended producing my first batch of "Dlord Killa" type small craft (5 attack, laser).

Still, I cant group them fast enough to even make a dent on the Dlord ships... I am thinking of running, regrouping in open space and coming back as a fleet, and all of a sudden, the Dlord ships stop... I take a closer look and find out.. they are UPGRADING right there next to my worlds! we are talking some 8 or 9 ships here, sitting ducks!

So I send my ships after them, thinking it´s gonna be a massacre with our side coming out alive for a change.. but my ships can´t attack them. They certainly have the range, they just won´t attack.

Now, I realize this may have been included to prevent the player from suddenly gaining the advantage while the Dlords are sitting ducks, but STILL, it kinda pisses me off. If they are defensless while upgrading, don´t let them upgrade right next to my worlds, it´s frustrating not being able to blow them from the sky while they are RIGHT THERE.

Of course, next turn, they finished upgrading (new and improved Dlords, now with 28 laser defense!) and destroyed my ships..

Yeah, don't let them conquer anyone or they can upgrade. However, you should be able to attack them, you had enough movement left?

I don't suppose a debug.err will help, but it's worth a shot to see what the DL did. Because I don't think it's a game mechanic.

pretty strange bug here.

I've also run into that bug, where you cannot attack a Dread Lord ship being upgraded. That was pre 1.11 patch; I would have figured that would have been fixed.

You found a bug. You have my sympathy for that, hopefully they'll have it fixed in the next patch. You did not witness cheating. Whenever I see a post that includes an accusation of the AI "cheating", a big red flag that has "RETARD" scribbled across it in crayon shoots up.

huh? a bit in the defensive there? the title of my post was a tongue-in-cheek comment about the Dreadlords and their ways, there is absolutely no need to start insulting people, you know?

Edit: I checked and yes, I had enough movement, as they were right next to my planets and my ships were coming out of starport brandnew (having been purchased in a panic the turn before ) . I´ve never had any problems with the game, and I consider this more "weird stuff" than a problem, really. So I didn´t take a screenshot.

I ran into that bug, only happened to me when my ships were autopiloting to the upgrading ships, and when they didn't attack I was able to manually move them to attack, boom!
