Issues in 1.11

- Minor tweaks needed

I have found two things that seem to be wrong in 1.11.
There are probably other minor things as well, but this is what I found,
Sorry if already reported. I did search for it (honestly, guv!) but didn’t find anything.

Thingy 1, starbases:
Look at this screenie:

As you can see, all three planets are clearly within the "field of influence" of the starbase. Earth and Mars both get the starbase benefits while Gauss V have to do without. Pre 1.11 Gauss V too would be a member of the space factory club. Seems like someone screwed up some parameter somewhere.

Thingy 2, Hated for no reason:
I must play *very* loud music indeed.
A minor race on the other side of the map (largest map) didn’t like me.
The reason?
- Close borders.
Now, he was more then half a map away from my cultural influence so I don’t see the logic in this. As punishment for this audacity I had to eradicate his entire species and salt his fields. Do you have any idea how much salt it takes on a PQ 21?
He did have close borders though, but it wasn’t with me. Some other player (major race) had his planet within his borders. Between our borders there were plenty of vacuum, though.

Is anyone on stardock supposed to confirm this?

DAMN THOSE SALT LOVING MINIONS!

You just can't get the minors these days. But yeah, other people have mentioned the the perimeter. Don't know if it's intentional or not, but you aren't alone

I noticed the starbase pertimeter issue in v1.1. I have not yet seen it in my first Metaverse game running v1.11.

That’s odd, for me it’s the other way around. As long as the planet or trade rout touched the border you were ok pre 1.11.

Here's my take, FWIW. My understanding is that what your pic displays isn't a "sphere of influence", but rather the sensor range of that starship. Also, a starbase only influences planets within the same sector and the Gauss system is not within the same sector as the starbase (as noted by the perpendicular line bisecting the path between the starbase and Gauss V).

As for the other issue, I can't help there.

Hope that clears things up.

midlifecrisis:
It can’t be the sensor range since I don’t have any.
You are probably right about the sector though.
That *does* clear a thing or two up. Is it the same thing on trade routs (only the routs in the same sector get taxed)?

Starbases field of influence extends to planets in other sectors. This is good if you have a Technology capital close to a sector corner, you can have up to 16 starbases extending production/research boost.

Hey all I do have an issue I can play version 1.1 with no problems however when I download and install version 1.11 i can't even load up the game a popup will say "The product appears validated but serial number or the machine SID don't match." I never had a problem like this until after the patch, is there an account problem or is there some other issue? Suggestion or answers will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
