Problem with WB5 and Photoshop/Illustrator CS2

Main app window doesn't show up

I'm having a problem that I _think_ is associated with having installed WB5 since that's when it started happening. Whenever I launch Photoshop or Illustrator CS2 as a result of opening a file (ie I double click a .psd file for example and Photoshop launches), the application starts without its main application window. That is, I can see the tool windows and the document window itself, but the app window and main menu bar are not shown. I end up having to close the app using the taskbar, then relaunch it manually and open the document from within the application.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? I even set WB to ignore Photoshop and Illustrator in the per-app settings, but it still keeps happening.

Not everything likes to be skinned.

Try adding it to the per application exclusions - somethings need to be fully excluding - somethings work okay but work best using certain skins - somethings work okay if you only skin the titlebar

I have CS2 and WB5 and have never run into this. I have had problems with CS2 acting a little odd, but I would just reinstall it.

I have WB5 and Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2 and have no problem and the app skins completely. I do not think compatibility is your problem.

Ignore the Troll...the Troll doesn't have CS2

What skins are you using? I use CS2 and WB5 with no problems on all my skins, but I am not using Window FX, have you tried unloading Win FX?

I used to have this problem before getting the latest version of Window FX. Jonep is on track....

Looks like Window FX may have been the problem. Now I'm noticing another problem, though, which is that menu itemas that are supposed to be disabled (grayed out) in Photoshop aren't appearing as such, which makes things pretty confusing (since those items don't work but look like they should). I have WB5 set to not skin Photoshop in the per-application settings. Problem goes away if I unload WB5 completely. Anyone else experience this? Thanks

That sounds like a colour scheme problem.  There can only be one colour scheme in use systemwide, so even when an app is excluded, it still picks up some classic colours from the skin.

I would use a different skin which a better colour scheme.

Ok, I see what you're saying, but three things lead me to suspect it's something else:

1. The theme I'm using is Aura, which seems like a pretty solid and popular theme
2. This doesn't happen with applications other than Photoshop
3. I've got Photoshop excluded from being themed at all

Thanks

Try Antares. Set the per appl to only use that skin on PS.
