Desktop black outs and Desktop Unresponsive

First time ever, for years, I have issues with Fences

Over the past several months, I’ve been experiencing recurring desktop issues that seem connected to Fences.

A month ago, my desktop became unresponsive whenever I clicked on it. Both monitors would turn white, and I noticed that Fences began appearing late after login. The issue persisted through multiple reboots. When I uninstalled the latest version of Fences, the problem disappeared immediately.

About a week later, I reinstalled Fences and everything worked normally for over a month. Then the same symptoms returned: Fences loading late after login, the desktop turning white, and the desktop becoming unresponsive until I clicked the white overlay.

Because I also use DeskScapes, I wondered if it might be contributing. I uninstalled both Fences and DeskScapes, waited a month, and then reinstalled them about a week apart. Everything worked fine at first, but eventually the same desktop unresponsiveness and white‑screen behavior returned.

Right now, I’ve kept DeskScapes installed but removed Fences again. With Fences uninstalled, the desktop works normally. I’ve used Fences for many years and miss having it, but the issue keeps coming back whenever it’s installed. Help?

Thanks, Rob

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need few more details.

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Fences and Deskscapes full version number installed.
  3. Have you tried running Fences without Deskscapes at all and see if the issue appear?

Thank you,
