Hyperion...most commonly used title/name in Sci Fi?

Funny how everyone names their ship designs similarly. My favorite name is Hyperion, but of course that name is plastered already throughout the game, multiple books (e.g., Dan Simmons) and T'V. shows (Babylon Five). Any other candidates for most common science fiction term?

I think Nova, is another one. Seems in every sci-fi medium there's a planet or ship named, Nova something.

We also use Omega a lot.

I recall reading that the most commonly used name in sci-fi/fantasy is Cain, Kain, Kane, or some other variant of that pronounciation.

Not to mention all the times we refer to galactic regions as the "Outer Rim" or the "Core Worlds".

And I'd say that more than 50% of all fictional FTL technologies have the word "hyper" somewhere in their name.

Babylon is used a lot too. Neo Terra (new Earth) has been used in nearly every sci-fi. New Texas is another popular one

I think I've heard Terra Nova, more often that Neo Terra, but Neo also gets overused in sci-fi.

Ha...Arilias. You noted my name? I came up with (Axel) Kane in a character for an old fashioned pen and paper RPG about twenty years ago, but I agree--that name too is overused.

Neo is another really used name, even before The Matrix (aha-ANOTHER overused term too).

Overused, but, still good. I like all of those terms. Along with the great ship names inherent in Star Trek lore, Star Wars, etc.

Star/space ship.
Or even just 'ship'
With or without Ultrahyper mega-phased plasma railcannons or black Alpha-warped singularity hole guns.

(Not to mention those blasted ultra-shielded photonmatrix torpedo disruptors (very popular as point defence))
