Misc 4b glitches, etc
from
GalCiv2 Forums
I've already posted about how the Ai's respond to influence starbases here: Link
What follows is just a short list of things I found that are more glitches than anything:
Shipyard Governor: Even though I had obsoleted several ships out of the main shipyard screen, every last ship was available in the shipyard governor...whether it had been obsoleted, or not.
"next ship function": I can use the Find button just fine, the auto switch to the next ship really needs a disable box.
Running game in windows mode: I would occasionally see a "new ship ready" icon scrolling up the right side of the screen...well after I had reviewed them all. I did not notice anything like this in full screen mode.
Armor research: Tri-Strontium II and III have the same stats ( same space, price, defense rating).
Metaverse: Started the game by logging into metaverse. When I finished the game I was not given an opportunity to upload the score. The last entry (at this time) in this Link thread mentions difficulty uploading scores from games with Gigantic maps. I did play a gigantic map, so not sure if there may be a problem, or not.
Late game minor races: The Vegans appeared a few turns before the game was over. On a whim I went ahead and invaded them, conquering the planet. They were trying to build a manufacturing center from scratch with no other support. While it's nice that minor races show up with comparable technology, having a race show up 17 years into the game trying to build a manufacturing center from nothing is just useless. Have them at least show up with some infrastructure if they are going to appear late game.
Ship designer: I might be remembering wrong, but was under the impression that if you saved a design with an already existing name the old design would be deleted. I tried it out and ended up with two designs with the same name. Granted I was prompted that the name already existed and was I sure I wanted to continue. I continued and had both designs with the same name.
other notes:
First time I've used way points. While they would be more useful with other tools (ie: programing a course with way points), waypoints were very handy and easy to use.
Shipyard governor: the all, or nothing, approach is limited. There is a very handy galactic map that lights up applicable starports...is it possible to add a function to that same map allowing you to select/deselect starports by clicking on them?
